Air Clamp

Air Clamp

  • The Air Clamps will expand within the Air Clamp Rails to serve as the clamping mechanism to securely hold the matboard in place while cutting on compatible CMC models.

Usage:

  • Before cutting, the Air Clamps inflate to secure the matboard in place.

  • After cutting, the Air Clamps deflate, allowing for easy removal of the matboard.

Connections:

  • The Air Clamps are located within the Air Clamp Rails of the 5000, 8000 and 8500 CMC models.

  • The Vertical Air Clamp Rail is located on the left side of the Board, just to the right of the Gantry when in the home position, and the two Horizontal Air Clamp Rails are located along the bottom of the Board.

Controlled by:

  • The Air Clamp is controlled by the Air Regulator, the Air Valve Assembly located in the Gantry and the ECU/Driver Pack signals.

  • The Gantry controls the Head Z-Axis, Gantry X and Y-Axis, Head Lift/Drop, Footblock Rotation and Clamp Activation.

  • The ECU/Driver Pack controls the electrical signals and powers the CMC and its functions.

Troubleshooting:

  • The matboard is being pushed aside when you try to cut:

    • Make sure that the Air Compressor is on.

    • Check the Air Lines to make sure they are not kinked.

  • If the Air Clamps are not inflating:

    • Listen for the sound of an air leak in the Clamp; if the Clamp is leaking, the Air Clamp needs to be replaced.

    • Make sure that the Air Compressor is on.

    • Check the Air Lines to make sure they are not kinked.

    • Are the connection cables for the ECU/Driver Pack, Gantry, Computer and Control Panel (if appropriate) tightly connected?

    • Turn off the ECU/Driver Pack and close the software. Turn on the ECU/Driver Pack and restart the software.

    • The Clamps are not inflating/engaging: Check the Clamp Test Button on the Actuator Valve of the Air Valve Assembly located in the Gantry. The Air Valve Assembly may need to be replaced.
