Design the Shadow Box

Design the Shadow Box

2. In the MatDesigner Editor screen, select Template #106 Mixed, and place it on the Work Area.

2. On the Properties Tab enter the Opening Size dimensions for the back of your shadow box.

3. Set the number of layers to 2. Make the top mat #614(Spike) and the bottom mat #101(Rectangle).

4. Set the Reveal value to your box wall depth.

5. Under the Parameters for the top layer set the Height and Width to the same value as in step 4.

6. You can see the shadow box form.

7. For a slanted side box, reduce the Width parameter. (For a 45° wall enter a Width that is ½ the height).

8. The corners are now angled.

Cut the Mat

Cut the Mat

Cut the mat face-down, and do not select Cut the Outside. Set the Blade Depth to 7 (or your V-Groove depth) then cut the bottom rectangle layer. Do not remove the matboard.

Return the Blade Depth to the normal setting and cut the top (#614- Spike) layer.

Remove the matboard. Close the corners and reinforce the folds with linen tape.
