Polygon (Any Number of Sides) Using the #506: Star Template

  • These instructions will show you to how to make a Polygon with any number of sides using the #506: Star Template.

The Finished Polygon
  • Click New Mat Design on the FrameShop Main Page.

  • Click Cancel on the New Openings Screen.

  • On the Openings Tab, bring the template #506: Star template onto the Editor.

  • Click on the Properties Tab to edit it.

  • Enter the desired size for the #506: Star opening.

Place the #506: Star Template and Size it
  • Click on the Parameters tab.

  • Under No. of Points put the desired number of points for this Polygon design.

    • 3 - Triangle

    • 4 - Quadrilateral

    • 5 - Pentagon

    • 6 - Hexagon

    • 7 - Heptagon

    • 8 - Octagon

    • 9 - Nonagon

    • 10 - Decagon

    • Etc…

  • For this example, we will use 7 points.

  • Under Spikiness, put 0.

  • Now there is no Spikiness and the lines are flat between the points.

Set the Number of Points and the Spikiness
  • If you click on the Template Parameter Map button, you will see that there are Three Modes to this particular template.

  • Mode 0 - Size scaled to fit Opening size.

  • Mode 1 - Width and Height the same, using Opening Width.

  • Mode 2 - Width and Height the same, using Line Length parameter.

  • Line Length - Side length of each star point, only used for Mode 2.

  • For this example, we will select Mode 2.

  • Leave the Line Length at 2.

Enter the Desired Mode and Line Length if Applicable
  • If needed for your particular project, you can Rotate the Polygon with the Rotation field.

  • The Polygon design is now completed.
