Right Triangle Using the #101: Rectangle

  • These instructions will show you how to make a Right Triangle using the #101: Rectangle and editing it in Trace to make it a CutArt.

The Right Triangle Design
  • Click New Mat Design on the FrameShop Main Page.

  • Click Cancel on the New Openings Screen.

  • On the Openings Tab, bring the template #101: Rectangle template onto the Editor.

  • Click on the Properties Tab to edit it.

  • Enter the desired size for the #101: Rectangle opening.

  • Make it 1 Layer.

  • Right-Click on the #101: Rectangle and select Convert to CutArt.

  • The #101: Rectangle will open up into Trace.

  • Click on the Line Button.

  • Right-Click on the upper left corner of the Rectangle and move your cursor down to the lower right corner.

    • This Snaps the first part of the Line to the Control Point in the upper left corner of the Rectangle.

  • Right-Click on the lower right corner of the Rectangle and hit the ESC key to stop drawing.

  • We now have the angle line for our Right Triangle.

  • Now we will Explode the Rectangle so we can delete the unneeded lines.

  • Click on the Edit Radio Button.

  • Click on the Rectangle to select it and click on Explode.

  • The Rectangle has now been Exploded into four separate lines that can be edited individually.

  • Hold down the CTRL key and click on the Top and Right line of the Rectangle and hit the Delete Key or the Delete button in the software.

  • The unneeded lines are deleted.

  • Now we need to Join the remaining lines so they can be Traced as a single object.

  • Click Edit > Auto Join Segments.

  • The Triangle should turn Black.

    • If it is not Joining automatically, you may have to hold down the CTRL key and click on each line to select it then click the Join button.

  • Now we are going to Offset it to create a second layer.

  • Enter the Reveal amount in the Offset field; we’ve left it at .25.

  • Click on the Triangle to select it.

  • Click the Left < button in the Offset section to offset it to the outside.

  • The Triangle has been Offset to create the second layer.

  • Now we’re going to Trace the design.

  • Click on the Set Bevels Tab.

  • Click Add to add another Layer into the Layer list so we can Trace both layers.

  • We now have two layers we can Trace on.

  • Click on the Top Layer in the Layer List.

  • Click on the outside Triangle to select it.

  • Click on the desired Bevel Type and click Set.

  • The top layer of the Triangle will turn the color of the Bevel Type selected.

  • Click on the Bottom Layer in the Layer List.

  • Click on the inside of the Triangle to select it.

  • Click on the desired Bevel Type and click Set.

  • Both layers are now Traced.

  • Click the Save button.

  • Save the design to the desired folder.

  • Make sure you have the CutArt filetype selected.

  • The Right Angle design is now complete.
