Enter the default settings for the Cutting Preview.

Default Settings for the Cut Screen Settings

Remember Previous

  • Select the Remember Previous radio button to start with the last settings used in the previous Cut session. This feature works well for some individuals, but may be confusing in a multi-user environment.

  • Select the Start with Settings radio button (described below) to start with the specified settings.

Start With Settings

  • Select the Start With Settings radio button to start with the specified settings.

  • Select the Remember Previous radio button (described above) to use the last settings from the previous Cut session.

Enable Auto Clamp Offset

Rail Dodge

  • Check the Rail Dodge checkbox to default to moving the design up and over 1.5"/3.8 cm out of the clamp area for the CMC 9000 and 8000.

  • You can also select Rail Dodge from the Location Tab on the Cut Preview Screen. Enter the distance to move the design in the X Origin field; the Y Origin field uses the same number value.

  • Unselect the Rail Dodge checkbox to default to not using the Rail Dodge.

Continuous Layer

  • Select the Continuous Layer checkbox to default to using the Continuous Layer feature, in which the software remains on the current layer after cutting it instead of rolling over to the next layer.

  • Unselect the Continuous Layer checkbox to default to rolling over to the next layer after cutting the current layer.

Cut from Front

90 Degree Outside

Tangent Threshold

  • The Tangent Threshold is the number of degrees between segments before the head will pick up and replunge. Enter the desired default Tangent Threshold.

  • For instance, if the Tangent Threshold is set to 6, anything larger than 6 degrees will cause the head to pick up and replunge between segments.

Default Blade Depths

Default Blade Depths

Use this section to set the default blade depth settings. These settings are reflected on the Blade Depth Screen and are used as the default blade depth settings.

Default Depth

Enter the desired default blade depth number in the Default Depth field for cutting regular Matboard.

V-Groove Depth

Enter the desired default blade depth for V-Grooves in the V-Groove Depth field for cutting V-Grooves in regular Matboard.

Cut Preview

You can still change the blade depth setting for the current mat under Blade Depth.

CMC Board Size

CMC Board Size

Select the CMC Board Size from the Board Size dropdown control. This affects the size of mats you can cut and the maximum matboard size limitations.

Tiling Defaults

Tiling Defaults

This section sets the Tiling defaults for cutting duplicates of the same design across the matboard on the Cutting Preview screen on the Setup Tab.

Sheet Size

Enter the desired default Sheet Size that you will be cutting the tiling designs from. The Sheet Size represents the full sheet of Matboard (e.g. 40 in x 32 in).

Spacing

Set the desired Spacing to be used between between tiled designs when cutting (i.e., 0 inches when cutting with a shared edge).

Cut Preview

These values can also be changed on the Setup Tab on the Cut Preview.

Advanced Outside Settings

Advanced Outside Settings

Use the Advanced Outside Settings to set the default settings for the Advanced Options for the Outside Cut for the Z1 and Z (9000z). This option is not displayed for the 9000.

Cut Mode

Cut Mode

  • Select the desired default mode for cutting the outside from the Cut Mode dropdown control.

  • This can also be set on the Cut Preview under Cut Mode in the Set Advanced Options section.

Cut Mode: Shared Edge

  • Select Shared Edge to set the default outside Cut Mode to cutting the shared edges of the designs.

  • This will cut the outside shared lines between tiled designs as one continuous cut, rather than cutting each design's outside separately.

  • On a single mat, it will cut just the top and right side.

  • This can also be set on the Cut Preview under Cut Mode in the Set Advanced Options section.

  • Using this setting, the outside of the mat will cut with a Shared Edge on the Outside Cut Options dropdown control, and cut the shared edges of the tiled outside cuts in one stroke.

  • If you have Remnant Trimming on, it will also cut off the scrap edge.

Cut Mode: Full

  • Select Full to set the default outside Cut Mode to cut all four sides of the outside edge of the design.

  • This can also be set on the Cut Preview under Cut Mode in the Set Advanced Options section.

  • Using this setting, the outside mat will cut the Full outside on the Outside Cut Options dropdown control and cut the complete outside edge of the design.

  • If you have Remnant Trimming on, it will also cut off the scrap edge.

Cut Mode: As Designed

  • Select As Designed to set the default outside Cut Mode to cut the outside as originally designed.

  • This can be helpful when coming from Trace or Nesting where the outside cut had been pre-determined.

  • This can also be set on the Cut Preview under Cut Mode in the Set Advanced Options section.

  • Using this setting, the outside will cut As Designed on the Outside Cut Options dropdown control to cut the outside as originally designed.

  • If you have Remnant Trimming on, it will also cut off the scrap edge.

Cut Pattern

Cut Pattern

Select the desired default cut pattern for tiled mats from the Advanced Outside Options Cut Pattern.

Cut Pattern: Optimized

  • Select Optimized to set the default outside Cut Pattern to cut tiled mats bi-directionally, which will zig-zag back and forth when cutting the outside of tiled mats.

  • This can also be set on the Cut Preview under Cut Pattern in the Set Advanced Options section.

  • Using this setting, it will cut the outsides of tiled mats in a bi-directional, zig-zag fashion.

Cut Pattern: Unidirectional

  • Select Unidirectional to set the default outside Cut Pattern to cut tiled mats in one direction only. This is useful if you want the outside cuts of the tiled mats to be exactly the same size, as the sizes may be off by the thickness of the blade when it's cutting bi-directionally when cutting the outside.

  • This can also be set on the Cut Preview under Cut Pattern in the Set Advanced Options section.

  • Using this setting, it will cut the outsides of the tiled mats in a unilateral fashion, moving the head in only one direction.

Cut Pattern: Stairstep

  • Select Stairstep to set the outside Cut Pattern default to cutting in a stairstep pattern. It will start cutting the tiled mat in the upper right corner and stairstep its way to the lower left corner.

  • This can also be set on the Cut Preview under Cut Pattern in the Set Advanced Options section.

  • Using this setting, it will cut the outsides of the tiled mats in a stairstep fashion, starting in the upper right and working its way down to the lower left.

Remnant Trimming

Remnant Trimming

Select the desired remnant trimming default from the Advanced Outside Options Remnant Trimming. This will trim off the remnant of the mat when cutting mats to make storing the leftovers easier.

Remnant Trimming: Off

  • Using this setting, the design will cut, but not trim off the remnant from the matboard.

Remnant Trimming: Auto

  • Using this setting, the design will cut and trim off the remnant from the matboard, automatically selecting either vertically or horizontally, depending upon the design and the size of the mat.

Remnant Trimming: Horizontal

  • Using this setting, the design will cut and will trim off the matboard remnant horizontally.

Remnant Trimming: Vertical

  • Using this setting, the design will cut and will trim off the matboard remnant vertically.

Dense Material

Dense Material

  • Select the cutting speed percentage from the Default Speed % to be used when cutting Dense Material.

  • For example, selecting 50% will make the CMC cut at 50% of the full speed when cutting with the Dense Material setting.
