Air Valve Assembly
This section provides definitions, hardware support and troubleshooting for the Air Valve Assembly, located under the Gantry Cover at the top of the Gantry, controls the mechanical functions of the Clamps Activation, Head Lift and the Blade Cartridge Plunge.
The Air Valve Assembly, located under the Gantry Cover at the top of the Gantry, controls the mechanical functions of the Clamps Activation, Head Lift and the Blade Cartridge Plunge.
Connections:
The Air Valve Assembly is located at the top of the Gantry under the Gantry Cover.
There are test buttons on the Actuator Valve on the Air Valve Assembly located in the Gantry to evaluate each of the mechanical functions for the Clamps Activation, Head Drop/Lift and the Blade Cartridge Plunge.
Controlled by:
There are Actuator Valve test buttons on the Air Valve Assembly to evaluate each of the mechanical functions for the Clamps Activation, Head Drop/Lift and the Blade Cartridge Plunge for troubleshooting.
The ECU/Driver Pack controls the electrical functions of the Clamps Activation, Head Lift and the Blade Cartridge Plunge.
The Gantry controls the Head Z-Axis, Gantry X and Y-Axis, Head Lift/Drop, Footblock Rotation and Clamp Activation.
Troubleshooting:
The Clamps are not engaging:
Check the Air Compressor and make sure it is on.
Check the Air Lines to make sure they are not kinked.
For the Z Series, make sure the Mat Clamp Pressure Knob on the Control Panel is not set to the low setting.
Check the ECU connections into the back of the Control Panel, Gantry and the Computer and make sure they are plugged in tight.
Turn off the ECU and close the software. Turn on the ECU and restart the software.
Check the Clamp Test Button on the Actuator Valve in the Air Valve Assembly located in the Gantry.
The Air Valve Assembly may need to be replaced.
The Head is not Lifting/Lowering to the Board:
Check the Air Compressor and make sure it is on.
Check the Air Lines to make sure they are not kinked.
Check the ECU connections into the back of the Control Panel, Gantry and the Computer and make sure they are plugged in tight.
Turn off the ECU and close the software. Turn on the ECU and restart the software.
For the Z Series, make sure that the pressure for the Variable Pressure Optimization on the Head has not been turned down too far.
Check the Head Lift on the Actuator Valve in the Air Valve Assembly located in the Gantry.
The Air Valve Assembly may need to be replaced.
The Blade Cartridge is not Plunging:
Check the Air Compressor and make sure it is on.
Check the Air Lines to make sure they are not kinked.
Check the ECU connections into the back of the Control Panel, Gantry and the Computer and make sure they are plugged in tight.
Turn off the ECU and close the software. Turn on the ECU and restart the software.
For the Z Series, make sure that the pressure for the Variable Pressure Optimization on the Head has not been turned down too far.
Check the Blade Cartridge Plunge Actuator Valve in the Air Valve Assembly located in the Gantry.
The Air Valve Assembly may need to be replaced.
If the Air Valve Assembly was recently replaced, the Air Lines may have been reversed. See: Air Valve Assembly Replacement for instructions on how to fix it.
