The Air Valve Assembly, located at the top of the Gantry under the Gantry Cover, controls the mechanical functions of the Clamps Activation, Head Lift and the Blade Cartridge Plunge.
Connections:
The Air Valve Assembly is located at the top of the Gantry under the Gantry Cover.
The ECU/Driver Pack controls the electrical functions of the Clamps Activation, Head Lift and the Blade Cartridge Plunge.
There are test buttons on the Air Valve Assembly to evaluate each of these mechanical functions for troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting:
Q: If the Clamps are not engaging:
Check the Air Compressor and make sure it is on.
Check the air lines to make sure they are not kinked.
For the Z Series, see if the Mat Clamp Pressure Knob on the Control Panel is set to the low setting.
For the Z Series, make sure the Clamp Pressure Adjustment on the Control Panel isn’t set too low.
Are the connection cables for the ECU/Driver Pack, Gantry, Computer and Control Panel (if appropriate) on tight?
Turn off the ECU/Driver Pack close the software. Turn on the ECU/Driver Pack restart the software.
Check the Clamp Actuator Valve in the Air Valve Assembly located in the Gantry.
The Air Valve Assembly may need to be replaced.
Q: If the VPO Head is not Lifting/Lowering to the material:
Make sure the VPO on the Head is not set too low.
Check the Head Lift Actuator Valve in the Air Valve Assembly located in the Gantry; the Air Valve Assembly may need to be replaced.
Q: If the Non-VPO Head is not Lowering/Lifting up from the material:
Q: If the Blade Cartridge is not Plunging:
Check the Blade Cartridge Plunge Actuator Valve in the Air Valve Assembly located in the Gantry; the Air Valve Assembly may need to be replaced.
