Editor Defaults

  • The Editor section sets the default settings to be used throughout the Design Editor.

  • Click on Admin in the Admin section of the Main Screen.

  • Click on the Editor tab to open the Editor section.

Editor Startup

Remember Previous     

  • Select Remember Previous to use the settings manually set during the previous Design session.

  • Select Remember Previous to use previous settings.

  • Select Start with Toggle Settings to use preset settings (described below).

Start with Toggle Settings            

  • Select Start with Toggle Settings to preset settings for each Design session.

  • Select Start With Toggle Settings to preset settings (described below).

  • Select Remember Previous to use previous settings (described above).

Dynamic Outsides         

  • Select Dynamic Outsides to add the Border Size to the Bounding Rectangle of the current group of openings, adjusting the outside size as needed.

  • A second opening dragged to the edge of the mat readjusts the outside size by adding the borders around the current openings.

  • Toggle to Dynamic Outsides On to change the outside dimension dynamically when openings are moved.

  • Toggle to Dynamic Outsides Off to keep the outside dimension a fixed dimension.

 Dynamic Outsides Definition

The Dynamic Outsides feature adds the Border Size to the Bounding Rectangle of the current Group of Openings, adjusting the Outside Size as necessary in Designer and Visualize.

Guides Active

  • Select whether to activate the Guides to snap objects to.

  • Toggle to Guides On to snap objects to Guide Lines.

  • Toggle to Guides Off to not snap objects to Guide Lines

 Guide Definition

A Guide is a Red line marker which can direct the motion or positioning of objects.

The sides and centers of Objects can snap to the Guide Lines.

Click on the Ruler around the design and drag toward the center to place a Guide.

Select the Guide and click Properties to edit the position or drag it where desired.

Borders Active

  • Select whether to activate Borders to snap objects to.

  • Toggle to Borders On to snap objects to the Border Lines.

  • Toggle to Borders Off to not snap objects to the Border Lines.

 Borders Definition

The Border is the area of precisely definable width between the outside edge of a Mat and the edge of the Opening(s) in Designer, Nesting, and Visualization.

Bottom Layer/Top Layer

 Positioning Toggle Definition

The Positioning Toggle dictates whether objects are positioned from the Top or from the Bottom Layer as indicated by the Arrow Direction, such as when placing V-Grooves or using the Guides in Designer or Trace.

Skip New Openings

Auto Label Multi Openings

  • Select whether to Auto Label Openings with the size of the object.

    • This size label is overwritten if a new label is manually entered in the object Label field in the Properties tab.

  • Select Auto Label Multi Openings to label objects with their size.

  • Unselect Auto Label Multi Openings to not label objects.

Enforce Minimum Sizes

  • Select whether to Enforce Minimum Sizes for CutArt and LetterMat if cutting below the Minimum Size.

  • Users may experience unsatisfactory results when cutting below the Minimum Size.

  • Designs can be Debossed/Penned smaller than they can be cut.

  • The Minimum Size warning is displayed when going to the Cut Preview:

    • Yes - Continue cutting without any changes

    • No - Resize content to minimums and continue cutting

    • Cancel - Abort cutting this design

  • Select Enforce Minimum Sizes to prompt a warning when cutting below the Minimum Size.

  • Unselect Enforce Minimum Sizes to not prompt a warning when cutting below the Minimum Size.

 Min Height/Width Definition

Min Height displays the Minimum Height that the selected CutArt or LetterMat has been tested to cut.

The CutArt/LetterMat can be Debossed or Penned at a much smaller size than it can be cut.

Cut the Outside

  • Select Cut the Outside to cut the outside.

  • Unselect Cut the Outside to not cut the outside.

 Outside Bevel Definition

The Outside Bevel is created by cutting into the fallout surface with the blade angled at 45°/52°, thereby slanting the bevel under the fallout surface. The matboard core is not visible from the front.

The Bevel Type refers to the angle at which the blade cuts the surface of the matboard when it deviates from the 90° right angle cut.

Select Outside or Outside-Front of Mat from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration.

Show Values as Fractions?

  • Select whether to show the software’s numerical values as Fractions or Decimals.

  • Select Show Values as Fractions to display numbers as Fractions.

  • Unselect Show Values as Fractions to display numbers as Decimals.

Wizard Wink Camera

  • Select Wizard Wink Camera to display the Wink Camera settings.

  • Unselect Wizard Wink Camera to not display the Wink Camera settings.

 Visualization Definition

The Visualize software allows the user to create a digitally finished product using the selected frames, matboards and the artwork.

This makes it easy to present several different variations of the design for the customer to pick from.

 Visualization Definition

Timeout

  • This adjustment can help if there is a slowdown of data between the camera and the camera capture software in the Visualization software. 

    • The default of 1500 is usually sufficient.

  • Set the Timeout interval for the camera for the Visualize software.

  • For Additional Information: See Color Profiles in Visualize for information on creating a color profile for the camera.

  • Default Settings: See Admin > Defaults for the default settings for Loading Images.

Retries

  • This adjustment can help if there is a slowdown of data between the camera and the camera capture software in the Visualization software. 

    • The default of 5 is usually sufficient.

  • Set the number of Retries for the camera for the Visualize software.

  • For Additional Information: See Color Profiles in Visualize for information on creating a color profile for the camera.

  • Default Settings: See Admin > Defaults for the default settings for Loading Images.

Init Timeout

  • This adjustment can help if there is a slowdown of data between the camera and the camera capture in the Visualization software. 

    • The default of 5000 is usually sufficient.

  • Set the Initial Timeout interval for the camera for the Visualize software.

  • For Additional Information: See Color Profiles in Visualize for information on creating a color profile for the camera.

  • Default Settings: See Admin > Defaults for the default settings for Loading Images.

  • Set the Default Sizes and Settings (described below).

Opening and Outside Defaults

Outside Size

  • Set the default size for the The Outside Size.

  • This sets the default size of the outside when going directly to the Editor when skipping the New Opening Screen (either by clicking Cancel on the New Opening Screen or selecting Skip ‘New Openings’ as described above).

Opening Size

  • Set the desired default Opening Size.

  • This sets the default size of new openings placed on the Editor from the Template Slots.

  • See Editor Right-Click to select Make Current Selection the New Default Size to set a new default size.

Detail Defaults

# of Layers

  • Enter the number of default layers for templates.

  • Maximum is 6 layers.

 Template Definition

Templates are specialized parametric shape generators created by Wizard.

Many of the templates have additional Properties that can be edited which can change the shape, curves and corners of the design as well as a wide assortment of Parameters.

The Template Library displays the different templates that are available for use.

V-Groove Distance

 V-Groove Definition

The Normal Bevel Closed V-Groove involves two symmetrical cuts: one in the matboard and a corresponding cut in the fallout, both forming a mirrored arrangement. The matboard is sliced halfway through the thickness and the core is visible from the front.

First Cut: Cuts the Interior cut into the Fallout Clockwise.

Second Cut: Cuts the Exterior cut into the Matboard Counter-Clockwise.

Select V-Groove from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration.

Fillet Width

  • Set the default width for Fillets.

  • Set the default Fillet Width to use when placing Fillets.

Remember Last Fillet Width

  • Select whether to use the Last Fillet Width.

  • Select Remember Last Fillet Width to use the same width as the last Fillet placed.  

  • Unselect Remember Last Fillet Width to use the default Fillet Width (listed above).

 Fillet Definition

A Fillet is a very thin Moulding used as an accent in framing inside another moulding or liner.

It is sometimes used under the glazing at the edge of the mat window opening that is cut as a Reverse Bevel.

Borders

  • Set the default settings for the Borders (described below).

 Border Definition

The Border is the area of precisely definable width between the outside edge of a Mat and the edge of the Opening(s) in Designer, Nesting, and Visualization.

Borders Entry

  • Set the default Border values for Top, Left, Right and Bottom Borders.

  • Set the default Border values for each Border entry: Top, Left, Right and Bottom Borders.

Even Borders

  • Select whether to have Even Borders.

  • Even Borders allows you to enter one value for the Borders and have the other Border fields automatically filled in with the same value when tabbing out of the field.

Lock Borders

  • Select whether to Lock the Borders to prevent them from being dragged on the Editor.

  • Locked Borders will still readjust to the new outside dimensions if Dynamic Outsides toggle is on. 

  • Select Lock Borders to lock the Border lines into their current position.

  • Unselect Lock Borders to allow Border lines to be adjustable with the mouse. 

Apply Borders To:

  • Select which layer to apply the Borders.

  • Select Bottom Layer to apply the Borders to the Bottom Layer.

  • Select Top Layer to apply the Borders to the Top Layer.

Fonts Defaults

  • Set the Fonts defaults and settings for LetterMats and TTFs (described below).

LetterMat Default Text

  • Set the default placeholder text for LetterMats.

  • Click on Properties to edit the LetterMat text for each particular design.

 LetterMat Definition

The LetterMat™ fonts are specialized fonts designed specifically for the Wizard FrameShop software.

Single Line Fonts: The letters are formed with Single Lines, not drawn as the outlines of shapes. Single line fonts can only be Debossed or drawn with the Pen.

Outline Fonts: The Outline fonts display the shapes of the letters as outlines with only a slight distinction between the thin and thick strokes. These fonts can be Debossed, Penned or Cut.

TTF Default Text

  • Set the default placeholder text for TTFs.

  • Click on Properties to edit the TTF text for each particular design.

 TTF Definition

The True Type Font (TTF) is an additional source of fonts, separate from LetterMats, that can be loaded into Designer to Cut, Deboss, or Pen.

The True Type Font (TTF) format was created to work between both Apple (Mac) and Microsoft (Windows) and could be deciphered by most printers by default. The TTFs contain the mathematical outlines of each character in the font.

The True Type Fonts are located in the /Windows/Fonts directory.

Note: TTFs have not been tested by Wizard and results may vary. Feel free to experiment.

Kerning

  • Space characters (i.e., hitting spacebar) uses Tracking, not Kerning.

  • Enter the desired Kerning value.

Kerning adjusts the space between individual Letters in a LetterMat or TTF in Designer.

Tracking

  • Set the default Tracking value for LetterMats or TTFs.

  • Tracking adjusts spacing uniformly over a range of characters (letter spacing). 

  • Space characters (i.e., hitting spacebar) uses Tracking, not Kerning.

  • Enter the desired Tracking value.

 Tracking Definition

Tracking is used to adjust the letter spacing uniformly over a range of characters in a LetterMat or TTF.

Pens Defaults

  • Set the Pen defaults and settings for Pen designs (described below).

 Pen Definition

The Pen Cartridge is used to draw onto the surface of the matboard on the CMC to create a design.

You can Pen Designs, CutArts, LetterMats and TTFs.

Pen Number and Limit

Pen Number            

  • Select the Pen number to edit.

  • The maximum number of Pens is 9.

  • Select the Pen number to edit from the dropdown control.

Limit

  • Enter the maximum number of Pens allowed in the software.

  • The maximum number of Pens is 9.

  • If the actual Pens being set up are different sizes, they will each have to be calibrated separately.

  • Enter the maximum number of Pens allowed in the software.

Label

  • Enter a description of the pen in the Label field.

  • Enter the Pen description in the Label field.

Color

  • Select the Pen color to display.

  • Click the Set Color button to open the Windows color picker and select the color to display when this particular Pen is selected. 

Width

  • This sets the visual thickness of the Pen on the Editor.

  • The larger the number, the wider the pen display. 

  • Select the Pen display width.

Vinyl Defaults

  • Set the defaults for the Vinyl cartridge (described below).

 Vinyl Definition

The Vinyl Cartridge uses a special blade to cut the Vinyl which has been temporarily adhered to matboard to create the design.

Color

  • Set the default Vinyl color.

  • Click the Set Color button to open the Windows color picker and select the color to display when a Vinyl is selected. 

Box Defaults

  • Set the defaults for the Box utility (described below).

 Create Cartridge Definition

The Crease Cartridge is used to apply Crease marks that are used to assist in folding the thicker finished Box.

Thickness

  • The Box Material Thickness designates the placement of the fold lines so that different thicknesses of material will fold properly into a box.

Tool Threshold

  • The Box Tool Threshold designates the material thickness threshold where the Box utility will switch from using the Deboss Tool on thinner material to the Creasing Tool on thicker material. 

  • Enter the default Box Tool Threshold. 

Box Template

  • The Template dropdown control displays the different Box templates available.

  • Select the default Box Template from the Template dropdown control.
