This Tutorial is designed to walk through the various aligning techniques and other features to help make using the MatDesignerâ„¢ software more familiar. These lessons will show the features and buttons within the software that can save you time.

It may be helpful to use this tutorial more than once, as you experiment using different templates, sizes, parameters, etc. This tutorial is meant as an icebreaker to MatDesigner software. Measurements are noted in both Imperial and Metric (cm) but screen captures will be in Imperial.

Default Settings

Default Settings

If you have any issues following the tutorial, check the default settings. The default settings used for this tutorial are displayed below.

Click on Application Defaults from the main screen to view and customize the default settings.

Global: Layer Direction: Bottom-Up.

Editor: Start with Settings: Selected, Dynamic Outsides: Unselected, Borders Active: Selected, Guides Active: Selected, Bottom Layer XY: Unselected.

New Openings: Opening Size First?: Selected.

Sizes: Default Mat Options: 16x20 (40x50 cm), Cut the Outside: Selected, Default Opening Options: 4x5 (10x13 cm).

Borders: Borders: 2 each (5 cm), Even Borders: Selected, Lock Borders: Selected, Apply Borders to: Bottom Layer.

It may be easier to start each lesson from scratch. From the editor, click Quit then No to not save the mat and return to the main screen.
