ECU Driver Installation: CMC 8500 Series and the 9000

  • The ECU is the signal amplifier to the Wizard CMC.

  • For optimum performance, drivers must be installed properly as described below.

  • Please have the MatDesigner 5.7.3. or greater CD in hand to install the drivers.

Installing the Wizard ECU Drivers

  • Put in the MatDesigner CD to Install ECU Drivers.

  • Power off the ECU.

Turn off the ECU
  • Unplug the USB Cable from the ECU.

    • It is necessary to turn off and unplug the ECU otherwise the ECU memory will not clear and the drivers installation will NOT take full effect.

Unplug the USB Cable From the ECU
  • Put the MatDesigner version 5.5.3. or greater CD into the CD drive.

  • The CD will start up to the main screen.

  • On versions 5.7.3. and previous, click Install Software then click ECU Drivers.

  • On later versions, just click ECU Drivers.

Click Wizard ECU Drivers
  • On the Wizard USB Install Screen, Click Next.

  • User may see a Warning Screen; click Continue Anyway.

  • After it finishes installing, Click Finish on the driver installer screen, which will return to the Install Products Screen.

New Hardware Found

  • The Found New Wizard MUST be run through TWICE.

    • The first time installs the firmware for the ECU, the second time installs the drivers for the ECU.

    • If you do not run through the Found New Hardware Wizard both times, the ECU may not function properly.

  • Plug in the USB Cable to the ECU.

  • Power up the ECU.

  • The Found New Hardware Wizard will start up.

  • Click Next.

  • The software will begin to install.

Software Will Install
  • User may see two Warning Screens; click Continue Anyway on both screens.

  • When the install has finished, click Finish on the Completing Found New Hardware Wizard.

Click Finish
  • The Found New Hardware Wizard will start up again.

  • Repeat steps 4-7 above.

  • When the system asks to reboot, click Cancel.

  • We will reboot after removing the CD.

Click Exit

  • The drivers are now completely installed.

  • Click Exit on the MatDesigner Installer.

  • Place the Installation CD in a safe place.

  • REBOOT the Computer.
