Vertical Belt Pulley Replacement Instructions: All Current CMC Models

  • Replace the Vertical Belt Pulley when the Gantry Vertical Belt Pulley visibly wobbles when the Head travels up/down the Gantry.

  • Reset the motors by clicking the Reset Motors Button on the FrameShop software.

  • Remove the lower Gantry Cover by removing the screw holding it in place.

  • Pull the Head about halfway up the Gantry, and use a piece of matboard under the Head Wheel to wedge it into place.

  • With an 1/8” Allen wrench, loosen the Vertical Belt Tension Screw on the bottom of the Gantry near the screw that holds the Vertical Belt Pulley in place.

  • Press the lower Vertical Belt Pulley upwards to reduce the tension then tighten the Vertical Belt Tension Screw.

  • Make sure that the Vertical Belt Tension Screw is tight

  • Loosen and remove the 1/8” Allen Screw that holds the Vertical Belt Tension Pulley in place.

  • Pull the Vertical Belt Tension Pulley upwards and remove it from the Vertical Belt.

  • Insert the replacement Vertical Belt Tension Pulley into the Vertical Belt and push back down into the Vertical Belt Tension Pulley bolt spacers.

  • Reinstall the 1/8” Allen Screw that holds the Vertical Belt Pulley in place.

  • Loosen the 1/8” Allen Vertical Belt Pulley Tension Screw.

  • You will see the Vertical Belt Pulley spring downward as pressure is applied.

  • Make sure that the Gantry Pulley Bar is leaning forward by pulling it toward you.

  • The Vertical Drive Belt should lie just above the Gantry channel, and not against it.

  • If the Gantry Pulley Bar is leaning too far back, the Vertical Drive Belt will rub against the Gantry channel and make a lot of noise as the Head moves up and down the Gantry.

  • With the Gantry Pulley Bar in the forward position, tighten the Vertical Belt Pulley Tension Screw to lock the tension into place.

  • Remove the matboard holding the Head in place and move the Head up and down the length of the Gantry to make sure the Vertical Drive Belt is unconstricted.

  • If the Vertical Drive Belt is hitting the inside of the Gantry, repeat the last four steps.

  • Reinstall the Gantry Cover(s), replacing the screws you removed earlier.
