CutArt on a Different Layer

This lesson shows how to retrace a CutArt or other object to cut on a layer other than the top layer.

Design in MatDesigner, Bring into PathTrace

Design in MatDesigner, Bring into PathTrace

In MatDesigner, click on Add CutArt button.

Double-click on Animals2.

Select ButterflySml.WCA and click OK.

Add two 2-layer rectangles and place them on either side of the butterfly.

Add a larger 1-layer rectangle that encompasses the other two rectangles and the butterfly.
Click Advanced and use the transparency slide bar to see the objects underneath.

Save as Path.

Open path into PathTrace.

Trace the Design

Click on Set Bevel Tab.

Click Normal Bevel.

Click the lower left corner of each bottom layer of the inner rectangles to trace them.

Select Layer 2.

Click Normal Bevel.

Click the lower left corner of each of the top layer of the inner rectangles to trace them.

Click on the butterfly to trace it.

Select Layer 3.

Click Normal Bevel.

Click the lower left corner of the large rectangle to trace it.

The design is now ready to save and cut.
