Loading a Design or Image into PathTrace to Edit

There are several ways to load designs into PathTrace to edit.

  • From the PathTrace button on the MatDesigner Cut Preview.

  • Save the MatDesigner mat as a Path and open the Path into PathTrace.

  • Open a Path / WCX / WCA / DXF file into PathTrace.

  • Load an Image into PathTrace to draw over.

Design the desired mat in MatDesigner.

Go to the cut preview.

Click the PathTrace button to load the current mat into PathTrace.

A prompt to save the current mat before entering PathTrace displays.

  • Click yes to save the mat.

  • Click no to not save the mat.

  • Click cancel to not bring the mat into PathTrace.

  • Click “Do not ask me again” checkbox not display the prompt in the future.

Design opens in PathTrace.

Save the MatDesigner file as a path that can be edited in PathTrace.

Design the mat in MatDesigner.

In the editor click File > Save Path As.

Give it a filename and click save.

 

Click OK on the acknowledgment.
Do not use punctuation in the filename.

Paths can be opened directly into the PathTrace program.

Open the Path / WCX / WCA / DXF Files into PathTrace

File types can be opened into PathTrace:

  • Path files (saved from MatDesigner)

  • WCA/WCX files (Wizard CutArt)

  • DXF files (Some DXF files [Drawing Exchange Format])

Open PathTrace (from MatDesigner cut preview or under Start > all Programs > Wizard > Tools).

Click File > Open.

Locate the desired file and click open.

Open PathTrace (MatDesigner cut preview or under Start > all Programs > Wizard > Tools).

Click on the Trace and Draw tab.

Click Load Image.

Select the desired image.

Click open to place the image on the background.

Enter the desired size of the image under width/height.

Start drawing on top of the image.
