Quick Calibration

  • Quick Calibration gives a walk-through of making sure that the opening is the right size, cut in the right place, as well as adjust the backups and overcuts and correct for swoops and flares.

  • First we will design a simple mat.

Select Design from the Main Screen
Click Cut to Go to the Cut Preview

The Horizontal Home defines the global Horizontal placement of objects cut with the Blade Cartridges.

If the Opening is cut Too Far Left Horizontally, Increase the Horizontal Home.

If the Opening is cut Too Far Right Horizontally, Decrease the Horizontal Home.

The Vertical Home defines the global Vertical placement of objects cut with the Blade Cartridges.

If the Opening is cut Too Far Up Vertically, Decrease the Vertical Home.

If the Opening is cut Too Far Down Vertically, Increase the Vertical Home.

The Exterior Backup controls where the Blade Plunges into the Matboard (not the Fallout) on the Exterior Cuts of Openings. 

The Exterior Cut is where the Blade Plunges or Retracts from the Matboard (not the Fallout).  

If the Exterior Backup is leaving a Hook in the corner, Increase the Exterior Backup.

If the Exterior Backup is cut Too Long, Decrease the Exterior Backup.

If the Exterior Backup is cut Too Short, Increase the Exterior Backup.

The Exterior Backup field is marked with a Green Arrow on the Configuration screen and the Map illustration.

The Exterior Overcut controls where the Blade Retracts from the Matboard (not the Fallout) on the Exterior cuts of Openings.

The Exterior Cut is where the Blade Plunges or Retracts from the Matboard (not the Fallout).  

If the Exterior Overcut is cut Too Long, Decrease the Exterior Overcut.

If the Exterior Overcut is cut Too Short, Increase the Exterior Overcut.

The Exterior Overcut field is marked with a Red Arrow on the Configuration screen and the Map illustration.

Measure the bottom border to the opening viewed from the cutting side of the mat; this example was cut from the back. If it is not 2”, adjust the Vertical Home.
