Editing Deboss Configurations: MatDesigner
Deboss |
---|
Debossing leaves an indent into the matboard for a subtle design accent. NOTE: Make sure that the opening (from front) is cutting correctly before adjusting the Debossing. |
Load and Cut Test Mat | |
---|---|
Have MatDesigner open on main screen. | |
Click Saved Design button. Go to the MatDesigner/Mats folder. Click on Test Mats folder. Click on DB Test Mats folder. Click on the desired deboss test mat. For the wide deboss, load DB Wide Test Mat.WZX. For the medium deboss, load DB Medium Test Mat.WZX. For the thin deboss, load DB Thin Test Mat.WZX. Click Cut to take the configuration mat to the cut preview. Cut the mat from the front of the mat with the cartridges prompted. Mark an X in lower left corner of mat and opening on the cutting side before removing from CMC. Look at the debossed design. Is there any tearing of the surface of the matboard? Is the deboss unevenly spaced around the opening? Do any of the debossed lines travel too far? | |
To make adjustments, Click on the Configurations button on the cut preview and click on the Deboss tab on the Configurations screen. |
Select Deboss Cartridge | |
---|---|
Select the desired cartridge to edit by selecting it from the dropdown control. |
Horizontal Adjustment | |
---|---|
The debossed line should be evenly spaced around the opening. If the debossed line is in the wrong position horizontally (left and right), adjust the horizontal home. | |
Increase horizontal adjustment to move the deboss to the right. Decrease horizontal adjustment to move the deboss to the left. |
|
Vertical Adjustment | |
---|---|
The debossed line should be evenly spaced around the opening. If the debossed line is in the wrong position vertically (up and down), adjust the vertical home. | |
Increase vertical adjustment to move the deboss up. Decrease vertical adjustment to move the deboss down. |
Opening Adjustment | |
---|---|
Measure the width of the debossed design to make sure it is 3.375”. If it is not, change the opening adjustment. | |
Increase opening adjustment if deboss is debossing too narrow. Decrease opening adjustment if deboss is debossing too wide. |
Depth Setting | |
---|---|
Find the depth setting that gives the best debossing effect without tearing the surface of the matboard. Continue cutting the test mat until you are satisfied with the depth setting. Enter the depth setting in the Depth Setting field for the cartridge. Repeat for each cartridge. |
Corner Pause | |
---|---|
Corner Pause is the amount of time in milliseconds that the CMC will pause in corners. If the matboard is tearing in the corners, increase the Corner Pause. |
Overshoot | |
---|---|
Overshoot is how much the deboss continues past the end of the segment. This is similar to an overcut, and is used to make the corners connect better on different sized deboss cartridges. Increase overshoot to make the deboss line longer. Decrease overshoot to make the deboss line shorter. |
Plunge | |
---|---|
Plunge will cause the head to lift between entities of an object when debossing. Select plunge to plunge and unplunge in each corner segment of an object. Unselect plunge to keep the head plunged for the duration of the object. |
