• The Tangent Threshold will smooth the connection between the arc circuits that are below the specified Angle Degree in the Tangent Threshold field to provide a smoother cutting transition between the arcs.

• The more tangent the connection between arcs, the smoother the cut.

• Any arc connections above the specified Angle Degree in the Tangent Threshold field will cause the head to pick up and replunge.

• 6° is the standard setting.

• Select Display Previous Cuts to default to displaying the Previous Cuts on the Cut Preview screen.

• This is especially helpful when doing test cuts or where the design can be simply moved over to cut the next mat.

• Select Display Previous Cuts to default to displaying the previous designs cut on the Cut Preview.

The Previous Cuts are displayed on the Cut Preview as Faded Gray outlines.

These allow you to position the next cut beside a previous cut when cutting several designs from the same mat, such as when Calibrating the CMC.

This can be turned on/off in the Options menu, and the previous cuts can be cleared from the screen with the Clear Cut History button.

• Set the default Blade Depth settings.

The Normal Bevel Closed V-Groove involves two symmetrical cuts: one in the matboard and a corresponding cut in the fallout, both forming a mirrored arrangement. The matboard is sliced halfway through the thickness and the core is visible from the front.

First Cut: Cuts the Interior cut into the Fallout Clockwise.

Second Cut: Cuts the Exterior cut into the Matboard Counter-Clockwise.

Select V-Groove from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration.

• The CMC Board Size affects the size of mats you can cut and the maximum matboard size limitations.

• Set the Tiling defaults for cutting the same design across the matboard from the Setup Tab on the Cut Preview (described below).

Tiling arranges identical openings side-by-side on the selected size of matboard without overlapping them in order to efficiently cut them in a single cut sequence.

• Set the default Advanced Outside Settings for the Outside cuts on the Z1, Z(9000z), 9000 and 8000+ (described below).

• Set the default Cut Mode for the Outside cut of the design (described below).

The Outside Bevel is created by cutting into the fallout surface with the blade angled at 45°/52°, thereby slanting the bevel under the fallout surface. The matboard core is not visible from the front.

The Bevel Type refers to the angle at which the blade cuts the surface of the matboard when it deviates from the 90° right angle cut.

Select Outside or Outside-Front of Mat from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration.

• Select Shared Edge for the Cut Mode to default to cutting the outside of the designs as one stroke between the designs.

The Shared Edge function will cut the Shared Edges of the Tiled Outside Cuts on the CMC Z1, Z(9000z), 9000 and 8000+ as one stroke between the designs, instead of cutting the outside of each mat individually.

• Select As Designed for the Cut Mode to default to cutting the outside as originally designed.  

  • This can be helpful when coming from Trace or Nesting where the outside cut had been pre-determined.

Remnant Trimming feature trims off the remaining portion of the mat Horizontally or Vertically after cutting the design to make storing the leftovers easier.

• Select Off to default to not using the Remnant Trimming after cutting the mat.

  • Using this setting, the design will cut, but not trim off the remnant from the matboard.

• Select Auto for the Remnant Trimming to default to letting the software determine the best direction to cut off the Remnant piece.

  • Using this setting, the design will trim the remnant from the matboard by automatically selecting the optimum direction: Vertically or Horizontally.

• Select Horizontal for the Remnant Trimming to default to cutting the remnant off Horizontally.

  • Using this setting, the design will trim off the matboard remnant Horizontally.

• Select Vertical for the Remnant Trimming to default to always cutting the remnant off Vertically.

  • Using this setting, the design will cut and will always trim off the matboard remnant Vertically.

• Select the cutting speed percentage from the Default Speed % to be used when cutting Dense Material.

• For example, selecting 50% will make the CMC cut at 50% of the full speed when cutting with the Dense Material setting.

Cutting from the Front will cut with the face of the mat toward the operator, and can be selected on the Cutting Preview.

  • Cut from the Back bevel type names will be displayed with no further label; i.e., Normal Bevel.

  • Cut from the Front bevel type names will be displayed with a Front label; i.e., Normal Bevel-Front of Mat.

  • V-Grooves have their own selection on the list.

If you are cutting an element that must be applied to the front of the mat, such as a V-Groove or Pen design, any openings on that layer will also cut from the front and use the Front of Mat configuration item; i.e., Normal Bevel-Front of Mat.

So if you are having problems with a Normal Bevel cut on the same layer as a V-Groove, make sure you select Normal Bevel-Front of Mat to edit the configurations for that opening.

• Select Remember Previous to use the last settings used in the previous Cut session.

• Select Start with Settings to preset settings for each Cut session.

• Select Continuous Layer to default to remaining on the current layer after cutting it instead of rolling over to the next layer. 

• For Additional Information:

• See the Continuous Layer button on the Cut Preview.

• Click Options > Continuous Layer on the Cut Preview.

The Continuous Layer will keep cutting the Current Layer without rolling over to the next layer.

It will stay on the Current Layer until the user manually selects a different layer or turns off Continuous Layer.

The 90° Cartridge cuts a 90° Right Angle into the matboard. The matboard core is not visible from the front. The initial plunge position is determined by the bevel type.

The Bevel Type refers to the angle at which the blade cuts the surface of the matboard when it deviates from the 90° right angle cut.

Select [Bevel Type] or [Bevel Type]-Front of Mat from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration.

• The Tangent Threshold is the number of degrees between arc segments before the head will pick up and replunge. 

• For instance, if the Tangent Threshold is set to 6, anything larger than 6 degrees will cause the head to pick up and replunge between segments. 

• The default is 6°.
