Adjusting the Head Air Pressure for Typical Matboard: FrameShop Cut Preview Screen

Head Air Pressure for Typical Matboard

Head Air Pressure for Typical Matboard

These instructions will show how to adjust the air pressure on the head in order to cut typical matboard after cutting dense or extra dense material.

The Variable Pressure Optimization (VPO) Feature allows the user to compensate for dense and extra dense matboard. Not all CMC models have this feature.

The head air regulator is located on the left side of the head and controls the pressure of the footblock as it is cutting.

The minimum operating air pressure is 35 psi.

The maximum air pressure should be less than 60 psi to avoid crushing the matboard.

The software will prompt for a head pressure change only if the current mat is a different setting than the previously cut mat. If the settings are the same as the previously cut mat, the CMC will skip the following instructions and proceed to cutting the mat.

All designs come to the Cutting Preview with Dense and Extra Dense unchecked on the Cut Speeds Screen. Returning to the Editor and going to the Cutting Preview resets the layers to typical matboard with Dense and Extra Dense unchecked. You can also manually uncheck Dense and Extra Dense to reset a layer back to typical matboard.

Select the desired layer on the Cutting Preview.

Click the Cut Speeds Button to open the Cut Speeds Screen.

If previously checked, uncheck Dense or Extra Dense on the Cut Speeds Screen. By default, Dense and Extra Dense is unchecked.

Click OK.

The Cutting Preview displays that this is a normal layer; neither Dense or Extra Dense are displayed along the bottom of the screen on the Cut Preview Screen.

Dense Material would be displayed at the bottom of the screen and the dense layer would be highlighted with an asterisk.

Extra Dense Material would be displayed at the bottom of the screen and the extra dense layer would be highlighted with a pound sign to indicate that this layer is extra dense.

Click Cut and Align the Head if requested.

The Head plunges at the home position and applies the current pressure. It then displays a prompt to adjust the head pressure to the low setting.

Pull out the air regulator pressure knob by pulling it to the left.

Turn the air regulator pressure knob counter-clockwise until the marker on the gauge is at the low setting, as indicated by the bracket to the right of the air pressure gauge.

Make sure the gauge does not go below 35 psi.

Push the air regulator pressure knob back in to lock it in place.

Click OK to cut the mat with this setting.Â
