Select Horizontal for the Remnant Trimming to default to always cutting the Remnant off Horizontally.
Using this setting, the design will trim off the matboard Remnant Horizontally.

The Remnant Trimming feature trims off the remaining portion of the mat Horizontally or Vertically after cutting the design to make storing the leftovers easier.
