  • The Fallout is the part of the mat that is removed when a design is cut.

  • Typically, the Fallout is discarded, or saved for another project if large enough.

  • Sometimes the Fallout is considered as part of the design, such as the Dropouts on the inner portions of LetterMat letters.

  • The Bevel Type refers to the angle at which the blade cuts the surface of the matboard when it deviates from the 90° right angle cut.

  • Through Nesting, another design may be cut within the fallout.
