Changing to the Pen Tool Cartridge

  • The Pen cartridge is black and is labeled in the software with a pen icon.

  • Make sure the Head and foot block are already in the Aligned position. Click the Align Head button if necessary. 

  • Push the blade cartridge release lever to eject the current cartridge.

  • Place the pen tool cartridge into the head. 

  • The pen holder should be to the right, with the pen tip facing toward the CMC and the pen cartridge locking screw on the top, until it clicks into place. It can only be inserted one way.

  • If you have not calibrated this particular pen before, see the Install Pen: Set the Pen Depth Setting for the CMC Z1 or the Install Pen: Set the Pen Depth Setting for the CMC Z (9000z) and 9000 for more information.

  • If the pen is not going to be used for a while, please remove it from the pen holder and replace the pen cap to keep the pen from drying out.
