The 90° Bevel Drop is created by cutting a 90° Right Angle into the matboard. The matboard core is hidden from view since there is no Bevel when cutting at a 90° Right Angle. The Bevel Type refers to the angle at which the blade cuts the surface of the matboard when it deviates from the 90° right angle cut. The Bevel Type for the 90° openings is the form of opening cut and determines the initial blade plunge position. The Drop is one of the categories within certain opening styles, like the initial section cut of an Open V-Groove. However, it cannot be chosen as a standalone bevel type within Designer. Select Normal Drop or Normal Drop-Front of Mat from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration. |

The 90° Open V-Groove involves two symmetrical cuts: one in the fallout and a corresponding cut in the matboard, both forming a mirrored arrangement a specified distance apart. The matboard core is hidden from view since there is no Bevel when cutting at a 90° Right Angle, but the lower layer matboard is visible from the front. Cutting from the Front will cut with the face of the mat toward the operator, and can be selected on the Cutting Preview.
If you are cutting an element that must be applied to the front of the mat, such as a V-Groove or Pen design, any openings on that layer will also cut from the front and use the Front of Mat configuration item; i.e., Normal Bevel - Front of Mat. So if you are having problems with a Normal Bevel cut on the same layer as a V-Groove, make sure you select Normal Bevel-Front of Mat to edit the configurations for that opening. |
