Cartridges Involved

This Configuration element involves the following Cartridges.

  • Note: Not all cartridges are available for all CMC models.

Pen Cartridge Configurations

  • The Pen Cartridge draws onto the matboard with the selected pen.

  • This is viewed from the front of the mat.

Pen Tab

  • Select the Pen Tab.

  • Select the specific Pen to edit from the Cartridge dropdown control.

  • Note that each pen has its own set of configurations.

  • Below is a list of support documentation for editing the configurations of the Pen Cartridge on the Pen Tab.

Pen is Applied to the Wrong Place Horizontally 

Problem:

The Pen is Applied to the Wrong Place Horizontally.

Resolution:

 Horizontal Adjustment Definition

The Horizontal Adjustment defines the global Horizontal placement of objects applied with the Non-Blade Tool Cartridges.

If the Tool line is applied too far Left Horizontally, Increase the Horizontal Adjustment.

If the Tool line is applied too far Right Horizontally, Decrease the Horizontal Adjustment.

Pen is Applied to the Wrong Place Vertically 

Problem:

  • The Pen is Applied to the Wrong Place Vertically.

Resolution:

 Vertical Adjustment Definition

The Vertical Adjustment defines the global Vertical placement of objects applied with the Non-Blade Tool Cartridges.

If the Tool line is applied too far Up Vertically, Decrease the Vertical Adjustment.

If the Tool line is applied too far Down Vertically, Increase the Vertical Adjustment.

Pen is the Wrong Size

Problem:

  • The Pen is the Wrong Size.

Resolution:

 Opening Adjustment Definition

The Opening Adjustment controls the size of the Object cut or applied with non-blade cartridges.

If the Opening is cut too Large, Decrease the Opening Adjustment.

If the Opening is cut too Small, Increase the Opening Adjustment.

Pen Applied at the Wrong Depth

Problem:

  • The Pen is Applied at the Wrong Depth.

Resolution:

 Depth Setting Definition

The Depth Setting controls the Blade Depth for the Non-Blade Tools in the Configurations.

If the Non-Blade Tool is too Deep, Decrease the Depth Setting.

If the Non-Blade Tool is too Shallow, Increase the Depth Setting.

Pen Cartridge Tears the Mat

Problem:

  • The Pen Cartridge Tears the Mat.

Resolution:

  • The Non-Blade Tool is Tearing in the Corners of the segments, Increase the Corner Pause

  • The Non-Blade Tool is Pausing Too Long in the Corners of the segments, Decrease the Corner Pause

 Corner Pause Definition

The Corner Pause setting in Configurations is the amount of time, in milliseconds, to pause the application of the Non-Blade Tools between segments.

The Non-Blade Tool is Tearing in the Corners of the segments, Increase the Corner Pause

The Non-Blade Tool is Pausing Too Long in the Corners of the segments, Decrease the Corner Pause

Pen Lines are too Long

Problem:

  • The Pen Lines are drawn too Long.

Resolution:

 Overshoot Definition

The Overshoot controls how far past the end of the Line/Arc Segment to apply the Non-Blade Tool (Deboss, Pen or Vinyl).

This is similar to the Overcut used with the Blade cartridges.

If the Overshoot is applied too Long, Decrease the Overshoot.

If the Overshoot is applied too Short, Increase the Overshoot.

Pen Lines are too Short 

Problem:

  • The Pen Lines are drawn Short.

Resolution:

 Overshoot Definition

The Overshoot controls how far past the end of the Line/Arc Segment to apply the Non-Blade Tool (Deboss, Pen or Vinyl).

This is similar to the Overcut used with the Blade cartridges.

If the Overshoot is applied too Long, Decrease the Overshoot.

If the Overshoot is applied too Short, Increase the Overshoot.

Set Pen to Plunge Between Pen Line Segments

Problem:

  • Set the Pen to Plunge Between Pen Line Segments.

Resolution:

  • The Non-Blade Tool leaves a Dot where it plunges, select Unplunge.

  • The Non-Blade Tool takes Too Long to apply, select Plunge.

 Plunge Definition

The Plunge function controls whether to Plunge/Unplunge between the Line/Arc Segments of an object when applying a Non-Blade Tool.

The Non-Blade Tool leaves a Dot where it plunges, select Unplunge.

The Non-Blade Tool takes Too Long to apply, select Plunge.

Calibrating Different Pens

Problem:

  • How to Calibrate Different Pens.

Resolution:

 Install Pen Definition

The Pen Cartridge is used to draw onto the surface of the matboard on the CMC to create a design.

The Install Pen Utility is used to Calibrate each pen defined in the software.

  • Select this topic to see information on the Troubleshooting utility to make quick edits to the Configurations for a single object on the Cutting Preview.

 Troubleshooting Button Definition

The Troubleshooting Utility allows you to bring in a single opening and automatically selects the correct Cartridge tab and Bevel Type to configure.

Set up the Pen Defaults in the Admin Editor section of the software.
