Air Valve Assembly: CMC 8500e

  • The Air Valve Assembly is located at the top of the Gantry, and controls the plunging of the Head and the plunging of the Blade.

Tools Needed

7/64” Allen Wrench
3/32” Allen Wrench

Turn Off Air and Remove Hood

  • Turn off the air supply and remove the upper hood by removing the one screw that holds it in place.

Unscrew Air Valve Assembly From the Gantry

  • Locate the Air Valve Assembly at the top left side of the Gantry by standing in front of the Gantry and looking straight through the wires/Air Lines to the back plate of the Gantry.

  • Locate the two Allen Screws holding the Air Valve Assembly in place.

  • Do not adjust the other two screws on the Air Valve Assembly.

  • Use a 7/64” Allen wrench T-Handle to remove the screws securing the Air Valve Assembly to the Gantry.

  • Take note that these screws are tight and may be difficult to remove.

  • Save the screws.

Unplug Power Plugs

  • Before unplugging the power plugs, note the position of each one.

  • The bottom one, closest to the back of the Gantry, has a red plastic marker.

  • The middle plug has a clear/white plastic marker, and the top plug has no marker at all.

  • Unplug each of them by squeezing gently and pulling them straight out from their housing.

Disconnect Air Lines

  • Disconnect the three Air Lines by untwisting the connectors from each other.

  • Disconnect the Air Lines then remove the old Air Valve Assembly carefully from the Gantry.

Screw in the Replacement Air Valve Assembly to the Gantry

  • Take the screws from the old Air Valve Assembly and place them into the new one.

  • Line up the screws to the screw holes and screw into the back of the Gantry.

  • It is easier to screw one screw in partially and then the other to ensure proper alignment, then go back and tighten them.

Connect Air Line Connectors

  • Plug in the Air Lines.

  • Matching connector colors.

  • Match airline colors.

Plug in Power Plugs

  • Plug in the Power Plugs.

  • The plug with the red marker gets plugged into the bottom closest to the back of the Gantry.

  • Plug in the plug with the clear/white marker into the top plug.

Last Steps

  • Replace the upper Hood by screwing in the screw that holds it in place. You may have to gently move the Air Lines a bit in order for it to fit snuggly.

  • Turn on the air source.

  • Send back the old Air Valve Assembly to Wizard as directed. You are done.
