Level the Camera

To achieve consistent measurements via the software, it is essential that the camera be level with the design table surface. If the camera is not level, the software may not measure accurately.

Moving or Disturbing the Camera

Calibration must be repeated whenever the camera is moved, or if the mounting stand or camera are bumped, potentially knocking it off level.

Set Up and Level Camera

To achieve consistent measurements via the software, it is essential that the camera is level and parallel with the design table surface. If the camera is not level, the software will not measure accurately.

Install the camera on camera mount (pole or ceiling).

NOTE: If you are mounting the computer monitors to the countertop camera pole, please do so prior to attaching and leveling the camera.

Use a small level on the horizontal and vertical planes of the camera to set up the level of the camera.

Use the side thumb screw to adjust the level of the camera and lock it into position.

Confirm Level with the Camera Software

Make sure that the camera is level by using the camera software to confirm it.

Connect the camera to the computer.

Install and open the software that came with your camera. If your camera didn’t come with software, use the FrameShop Visualize software (instructions on how to open the software is described in Check Software Measurements) and click on the Take Picture button to open the camera application.

Place the print target on the back of the color chart onto the design table and place it so it is centered in the viewing frame.

Use the zoom controls to zoom in to the piece of paper, making sure that the edges of the print target are displayed equal distance from the edges of the viewing frame. If they are not, the camera is not level, it is not directly above the work surface, or the work surface itself is not level.

If needed, use the side thumb screw to adjust the level of the camera until the rectangular border around the print target appears rectangular in the camera’s field of view.

Focus the Camera

Set the focus to make sure that the pictures taken are sharp.

If the camera utility has a focus feature, use it to focus the camera using the print target as the reference. Use either the Auto-focus or manually set the focus.

When it has been focused, zoom back out to full screen.

Field of View and Other Settings

If available, set the Field of View and check the other camera settings.

If your camera utility has settings for Field of View, select the desired Field of View setting. You may have to experiment to see what looks best for your setup.

Check out the other settings available for your particular camera and make adjustments where desired.

Close the camera utility.

Remember: The Visualization cannot run the camera if the camera utility is still running. Only one thing can run the camera at a time.
