How to Make a Custom Nameplate Design

  • There are several Nameplate Templates currently available:

    • #901: Rectangle NP

    • #902: Oval NP

    • #903: Octagon NP

    • #904: Half Round NP

    • #905: Fr Stair NP

  • These instructions will walk you through making your own custom Nameplate design using the other templates available.

  • Click New Mat Design on the FrameShop Main Page.

  • Click Cancel on the New Openings Screen.

  • On the Openings Tab, bring the template #101: Rectangle template onto the Editor.

  • Click on the Properties Tab to edit it.

  • Enter the desired size for the #101: Rectangle opening.

  • Center the #101: Rectangle.

  • Bring over another opening using the desired Template for the Inset.

  • We will be using #613: Fr Stair Top.

  • Enter the desired size for the #613: Fr Stair Top.

  • Set the Positioning Toggle to align to the Bottom Layer.

    • If you prefer to work from the Top Layer then adjust the Offset Value for the Guide below.

  • Click on the #101: Rectangle to select it.

  • Right-Click on the #101: Rectangle and select New Guide From Other.

  • The Add Other Guide Screen will open.

  • We want to place the Nameplate 1.5” from the Bottom Layer, so enter 1.5 in the Distance From Bottom field and click OK.

  • This will place a Horizontal Guide 1.5” away from the Bottom of the Bottom Layer of the #101: Rectangle.

  • Move the #613: Fr Stair Top so that the top of it snaps to the middle Vertical Border Line and to the Horizontal Guide Line.

  • Note: You can also place other Guides Vertically if you do not want to Center the Nameplate.

  • Now we will Group the two openings together so they can be moved as a single object.

    • Note: This step is not necessary but is simply included if you would like to move it as a single object.

  • Select both openings and click the Group Selection button.

  • The openings will now be Grouped and will behave as a single opening.
