Guides Toggle

  • Use the Guides toggle to determine whether object edges and center points will snap to the Guide lines.

  • Guides Toggle On allows object edges and center points to snap to the Guide lines. 

  • Guides Toggle Off allows object edges to be placed without snapping to the Guide lines.

 Guide Definition

A Guide is a visual line marker which helps direct the motion or positioning of objects.

The sides and centers of Objects can snap to the Guide Lines.

Applying the Guide to the Top Layer

  • Click the Positioning Toggle to Top.

  • Place the Guide by right-clicking on the opening and selecting the Guide direction and distance.

  • The Guide will be placed in relation to the Top layer of the opening.

New Guide From Ruler

To Place a Guide From the Ruler

  • Click on a Ruler and drag onto the editor to place a Guide

To Move the Guide

  • Click on the Guide and drag it to the desired position.

  • Optionally, click the Guide and click the Properties Tab to edit the position of the Guide.

New Guide Relative to an Object

To Place a Guide a Relative Distance from an Opening

  • Select the opening.

  • Click the New Guide button.

  • Select the desired direction and placement to place a Guide onto the Editor.

    • New Vertical Guide

      • Left

      • Middle

      • Right

    • New Horizontal Guide

      • Top

      • Middle

      • Bottom

  • The Guide is placed in the specified position of the opening.

Note: To place a Guide a specified distance to the Inside of an object, select New Guide From Other and select the desired direction and placement, using negative numbers.

To Place Guide a Specified Distance from an Object:

  • Select the desired object.

  • Click the New Guide button.

  • Select New Guide From Other.

  • Select the Direction checkbox for the Guide.

  • Enter the Distance from the opening to place the Guide.

  • Click OK.

  • The Positioning Toggle determines whether the Guide is placed on the Top or Bottom layer of the opening.

  • Several Guides can be placed at the same time with this screen.

  • Negative Numbers can be entered to place a Guide within the opening.

  • The Guide is placed.

  • Openings can be moved and snapped to the Guide line.

Auto Alignment

 Auto Alignment Definition

The Auto Alignment function will display Blue alignment lines as an object is moved and lines up to another object in Designer and Nesting.
