Exploding Objects

  • Click on the desired object(s).

  • Click the Explode button.

 Explode Tool Definition

The Explode button will break up the Selected Object into the individual segments that make up the object in Trace.

For example, a Rectangle will be broken up into Four Individual Lines which can be edited separately.

  • The selected object will be broken down into the individual Segments that make up the object.

  • In this case, it consists of several Curves

 Curve Definition

The Curve button allows you to draw a mathematically defined Bezier/Spline Curve in the Trace software.

The Bezier/Spline Curve is defined by four points: the Initial Position and the Terminating Position (which are called "Anchors") and Two Separate Middle Points (which are called "Handles"), which can be moved to change the shape of the Curve.

Splines are easier to handle in the software than Arcs for tangification and the conversion process when going to the Cut Preview.

Arcs are still provided in the software for those that prefer to draw with them, but the Convert Arc to Splines process will convert them to Splines for software simplification purposes.

  • The individual segments can now be edited.

    • Here, one of the Curves has been deleted and another one drawn in.

Breaking a Design at a Specific Spot

  • If you need to break an object in a specific place and Explode Circuit isn't sufficient, see "Breaking a Design in a Specific Spot" within the Break topic.

 Break Definition

The Break tool is used to Bisect the selected segments at the points where they Intersect in the Trace software.

The Break All Intersections function bisect ALL segments in the design at the points where they intersect with another segment in the Trace software.

Edit > Explode All

  • Optionally, click Edit>Explode All.

  • The entire design is exploded into its individual segments.

 Explode All Definition

The Explode All button will break up All Objects into their individual segments that make up the object in Trace.

For example, a Rectangle will be broken up into Four Individual Lines which can be edited separately.

Explode All

  • Optionally, use the Explode All Tools button.

  • The objects are exploded into their individual segments used to create it.
