Editing the Interior Backup on V-Grooves

 V-Groove Interior Backup Definition

The V-Groove Interior Backup controls where the Blade Plunges into the Fallout (not the Matboard) on the Interior cuts on the Inside Cut of the V-Groove.

The V-Groove Interior Backup field is marked with a Black Arrow on the Configurations screen and the Map illustration.

If the Interior Backup on the Inside Cut of the V-Groove is cut Too Long, Decrease the Interior Backup.

If the Interior Backup on the Inside Cut of the V-Groove is cut Too Short, Increase the Interior Backup.

 How to Select the Bevel Type to Edit

Select desired Cartridge Tab

Select the desired Bevel Type from Current Bevel Type.

Edit the desired Configuration field.

 When Cutting from the Front

Select Current Bevel Type-Front of Mat when cutting from the front of the mat.

*The different Opening Bevel Types, including whether it is cutting from the Front or Back, controls the cut direction of the Head, and determines whether the cut is a Backup or an Overcut.

 How to Adjust the Interior Backup

When adjusting Configurations, click the Plus (Increase) or Minus (Decrease) button on the desired field about five times.

Click OK and do another test cut.

Continue making adjustments until the desired outcome is achieved.

V-Groove Cut Direction and Cut Order

Inside Cut of the V-Groove

  • The Inside of the V-Groove cuts First in a clockwise direction.

  • These are Internal cuts, which cut into the V-Groove fallout.

    • V-Groove Interior Backup

    • V-Groove Interior Overcut

Outside Cut of the V-Groove

  • The Outside of the V-Groove cuts Second in a counter-clockwise direction.

  • These are External cuts, which cut into the matboard.

    • V-Groove Exterior Backup

    • V-Groove Exterior Overcut

V-Groove Interior Backup too Long

Problem:

  • Interior Backup of the V-Groove cuts Too Long.
