Measuring Blade Depth

Measure blade depth for standard matboard to determine the optimum default blade depth setting.

Open MatDesigner software on main screen.

Click Start then Programs (or All Programs) then Wizard.

Click MatDesigner folder.

Click on Calibration folder.

Double-click on NormalBevel.PATH.

The configuration mat is loaded to cut.

Put in your standard matboard and cut the mat.

Look at the mat.

Did blade cut all the way through matboard?

Or did it score into backing mat?

Remember, we are only looking at blade depth.

If an adjustment is needed, click on Blade Depth button on the cut preview.

Blade depth screen opens.

NOTE: Blade depth may vary from board to board.
Below is an example (individual settings may vary).

If blade depth is too deep, decrease blade depth knob.

Change the opening field number on blade depth screen to match blade depth knob; the lower the number, the shallower the cut.

If blade depth is too shallow, increase blade depth knob.

Change the opening field number on blade depth screen to match blade depth knob; the higher the number, the deeper the cut.

Cut the mat again.

Keep making adjustments until satisfied.

If desired, enter a note in the label field next to the current opening blade depth number, such as “recommended for paper mat depth”.

Click Set as Default to make current blade depth setting the default value for openings.
