Changing a Closed V-Groove to an Open V-Groove

Click Add V-Groove Opening button to add a V-Groove to the Editor.

With the V-Groove selected, click on the Properties tab.

Change the V-Groove width to anything greater than zero (0).

A V-Groove with a width greater than zero (0) will cut it as an open v-groove, either from the from or from the back.

Select an Open V-Groove Template

Alternatively, select #801 Open Vee from the template library or any of the other Open V-Groove templates.

With the Open V-Groove selected, click on the Properties tab.

Click on the parameters tab at the bottom.
Adjust the Offset and V-Groove Width as desired.

An open vee is cut like a regular opening, and can be cut from the back or the front of the mat.

Edit Open V-Groove

With Open V-Groove selected, click on the Properties tab. Some of the fields may not display dependent upon whether opening is a opening V-Groove Template or an altered closed V-Groove.

VG Opening

Label: Enter a Label for this object if desired.

Change Template: Click Change Template button to select a new template from template library.

Note that this is different from the Change button below, which allows you to select a different template shape for the V-Groove.

Dimensions

Width/Height: Change width/height of the opening.

  • Click Sizes to select recent or standard sizes.

  • Click Swap to switch numbers between width/height.

Reveals Tab (Options)

Template Design #: Template Design # displays current template number. Enter a new template number to change the template opening to a new template number.

[?]: Click Question mark [?] for template diagram.

Change: Click Change button to select a new template shape for the V-Groove from template library.

VGWidth: Width of the Open V-Groove.
Any width greater than zero (0) is an Open V-Groove.

Distance: Distance is the space between Open V-Groove and the mat/object to which it is attached.

V-Groove must be attached to mat/object to specify a distance.

Resizing mat/object will also resize the Open V-Groove, keeping it the distance specified in the distance field.

Attach To: Select desired item to attach Open V-Groove from the Attach To dropdown control.

Cartridge Icon: Click on the Cartridge Icon and select the desired cartridge for this Open V-Groove.

Default Cartridge is the 45° normal bevel Cartridge.
If a Cartridge is not licensed, it will be disabled.

Type: Select the desired bevel type from the dropdown control.

Normal Bevel: Cut the object as a normal bevel.

Reverse Bevel: Cut the object as a reverse bevel.

VG Options: Parameters Tab

Edit the parameters as available for this template as desired.
