Integrated Framer Visualization User Guide: Step 1: Load an Image

An image may be loaded from the camera, from a local file or from the server. Click the desired button to load a new project image.

Use the menu item Options > Capture Image From to set which device is used for acquiring images.

Once the desired image(s) is loaded, click the Next button on the upper left menubar to continue.

Note that these buttons are to load an image. To load a project, refer to the File menu.

Click on one of the load image buttons and load an image.

Each image is loaded into a separate tab at the top of the editor screen. This allows selecting mouldings from one image, matboard from another image, and so on.

Click on Acquire from Camera if there is a camera or TWAIN device attached to the system.

The camera remote capture screen opens where the user can make selections before taking the photo.

To use a profile with the camera:

Select the Use Color Profile checkbox.

Select the desired color profile from the dropdown control.

Note: Color profiles are applied to the image taken by the camera which is then displayed on the IF Visualization editor. The color profiles are not applied to the preview screen.

To adjust camera settings manually, have Use Color Profile unchecked, then make adjustments on the remote capture screen before taking the photo. The Wizard Camera Settings and Canon Camera Settings section follows with individual setting information.

Zoom Level: Slide the zoom control (move the slider left to zoom out, right to zoom in) until satisfied with the preview display.

Brightness: Move the slider to the right to make the image brighter, and left to make the image darker.

Contrast: Contrast is the difference in brightness between the light and dark areas of the picture. Move the slider to the right to increase the contrast, and left to decrease the contrast.

Saturation: Saturation is the vividness of a color’s hue. Saturation measures the degree to which a color differs from a gray of the same darkness or lightness. Move the slider to the right to increase the saturation, and left to decrease the saturation.

Gamma: Gamma is the numerical value of the slope of the characteristic curve of a photographic emulsion; a measure of the contrast reproduced in a photographic image. Move the slider to the right to increase the gamma, and left to decrease the gamma.

White Balance: White balance refers to the adjustment of the relative amounts of red, green, and blue primary colors in an image such that neutral colors are reproduced correctly. Move the slider to the right to increase the white balance, and left to decrease the white balance.

Exposure: Exposure is the amount of radiant energy needed to expose a photographic film. Move the slider to the right to increase the exposure, and left to decrease the exposure.

White Balance: White balance refers to the adjustment of the relative amounts of red, green, and blue primary colors in an image such that neutral colors are reproduced correctly. Select the desired white balance: Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Fluorescent H (Halogen), Flash, Custom.

Exposure Compensation: Exposure compensation is a technique for adjusting the exposure indicated in consideration of various lighting factors that may cause the indicated exposure to result in a less-than-optimal image. Select the value desired for the camera.

Metering Mode: Metering Mode allows the user to select the most appropriate one for use in a variety of lighting conditions. Evaluative, Center-Weighted Averaging, Spot.

ISO Speed: ISO Speed ratings of a digital camera are based on the properties of the sensor and the image processing done in the camera. Select the ISO speed for the camera.

Click Take Picture to take the picture with the camera.
