Use the Pen Properties to edit the individual proprietary adjustments available for the Pen objects. | |
Click on a Pen object and click on the Properties Tab. Edit the individual proprietary adjustments available for Pen objects. Optionally, Right-Click on the Pen opening and select Edit to open the Pen Properties. |
Pen Opening | |

The Pen Opening section allows the user to enter a label to the current Pen object, or select a different template instead of the Pen. | |
Label Enter the desired text in the Label field which will be displayed on the Pen opening. This overwrites the default label displaying the opening size if toggled on in the Defaults or on the Editor Edit Menu. Change to Template Click the Change to Template button to access the Template Library. Select a different template instead of the Pen object. To change the SHAPE of the Pen, see: Template Number and Name below. |
Set the Default for the Pen Cartridges | |

The default setting for the pen cartridges can be set in the Admin > Editor section. |
Calibrate the Pen Before Drawing | |
---|---|
The Install Pen utility will calibrate each of your pens for use in the pen cartridge. |
Dimensions | |

Use the Dimension Section to edit and/or lock the Pen object dimensions, set the X/Y positioning, or rotate the Pen object. | |
Width Enter the Pen object Width dimension. Height Enter the Pen object Height dimension. Sizes Button The Sizes button displays a list of Recent and Standard sizes. Swap Button The Swap button switches the values between the width and height fields. |
Lock or Unlock Size | |

Click the unlock icon toggle to Lock the size of the current Pen opening. Conversely, click the locked icon toggle to Unlock the size of the current Pen opening. |
X and Y Position Fields | |
---|---|
X (Position Field) The X Position field is used to manually set the horizontal position of the selected Pen object (lines shown for illustration). Y (Position Field) The Y Position field is used to manually set the vertical position of the selected Pen object (lines shown for illustration). |
Rotation Entry Field | |
---|---|
Enter the desired degree of rotation in the Rotation field. The currently selected Pen will pivot from the center point. To rotate a group of objects or to manually rotate an object, see Rotation on the Advanced Tab. |
Pen OptionsUse the Pen Options section to select a different template shape, make it a double-lined Pen, or attach it to an object or the outside mat. | |

Template Number and Name The Template Number and Name button displays the template number and name of the selected Pen shape. | |
Click the Template Number and Name button to open the Template Library. Select a different template SHAPE for the Pen. Templates not available for this function are not displayed. To change the Pen to another template, see Change to Template above. |
VG Width | |
---|---|
VG Width on the Pen parameters determines if the Pen is a double-lined or single lined Pen. A single line Pen has a VG Width of 0 (zero) and draws from the front of the mat. | |
Double Pen Line Anything larger than zero for the VG Width is a double-lined Pen. This will draw from the front of the mat. |
Distance | |
---|---|
The Distance is the space between the Pen and the object the Pen is attached to in the Attach To field. If the Pen is not attached to anything, the Distance field is grayed out. NOTE: Offsetting the Pen from an object when initially placing the Pen does not automatically attach the Pen to that object. | |
Changing the Distance number will offset the Pen the new distance from the object it is attached to. If the object is resized, the Pen is resized proportionately and remains the Distance from the object it is attached to. |
Attach To | |
---|---|
Click Attach To and select from the dropdown control the desired object to attach the selected Pen. If you resize the item that the Pen is attached to (opening or outside), the Pen is resized proportionately and remains the Distance entered. NOTE: Offsetting the Pen from an object when initially placing the Pen does not automatically attach the Pen to that object. | |
Pen Attached to Opening Here the Pen is attached to an opening. | |
Pen Attached to the Mat Here the Pen is attached to the mat. |
Cartridge Selection and TypeUse the Cartridge and Type section to select the desired Cartridge and Cartridge Type for the particular layer of the object. | |

Cartridge Icon Click on the Cartridge Icon and select the desired cartridge for the current Pen. Changing it to a non-Pen Cartridge will change the Pen to that Cartridge type; i.e., changing it from Pen 1 Cartridge to a 52 Degree Cartridge will make it a 52 Degree V-Groove opening. | |
Cartridge Type When applicable, select the desired cartridge type from the Type dropdown control. Selections available are dependent upon the type of Cartridge tool selected. | |
Pen Color The selected pen's color is displayed in the Color field. | |
Pen Width The selected pen's display width is displayed in the Width field. |
Template Options Parameters TabThe Template Options Parameters tab allows editing of the template parameter attributes of the selected template shape. | |

These attributes are directly related to the specific template selected. Edit each parameter as desired; the design changes immediately to reflect the parameter adjustments. | |
Template Parameter Map Click on the Template Parameter Map button (displayed as [?]) on the Parameters tab. The template map will open and describes what each parameter field adjusts for the current template. |
