Cartridges Involved

This Configuration element involves the following Cartridges.

Note: Not all cartridges are available for all CMC models.

Other Cartridge Adjustments

  • The Other Cartridge Adjustments section contains additional configuration fields for V-Grooves and for the Non-Blade Tool Cartridges as described below.

Adjusting the Individual Adjustments

  • To adjust, click Plus/Minus on the desired field about five times.

  • Click OK and do another test cut.

  • Continue making adjustments until the desired outcome is achieved.

Select the Cartridge Adjustment to be Edited:

Width Adjustment (V-Groove)

Problem:

  • The V-Groove Width is cut Too Wide or Too Thin.

Resolution:

 V-Groove Width Adjustment Definition

The Width Adjustment controls the Width of the V-Groove Lines.

If the V-Groove is cutting Too Thin, Increase the Width Adjustment.

If the V-Groove is cutting Too Wide, Decrease the Width Adjustment.

Outside Rotation (V-Groove) 

Problem:

  • The Outside cut of the Non-Oval V-Groove cuts with Swoops or Flares.

Resolution:

The Outside Rotation on Non-Oval V-Grooves controls for Swoops and Flares in the Outside Cut of the Non-Oval V-Grooves.

 Outside V-Groove Swoop Definition

A Swoop in a Non-Oval V-Groove is where the corners Curve Inward toward the opening on either the Outside or Inside Cut of the V-Groove.

The Rotation on Non-Oval V-Grooves controls for Swoops or Flares on Non-Oval V-Grooves.

If the Outside Non-Oval V-Groove cuts with a Swoop, Decrease the Outside Rotation.

 Outside V-Groove Flare Definition

A Flare in a Non-Oval V-Groove is where the corners Curve Away from the opening on either the Outside or Inside Cut of the V-Groove.

The Rotation on Non-Oval V-Grooves controls for Swoops or Flares on Non-Oval V-Grooves.

If the Outside Non-Oval V-Groove cuts with a Flare, Increase the Outside Rotation.

Inside Rotation (V-Groove) 

Problem:

  • The Inside cut of the Non-Oval V-Groove cuts with Swoops or Flares.

The Inside Rotation on Non-Oval V-Grooves controls for Swoops and Flares in the Inside Cut of the Non-Oval V-Grooves.

 Inside V-Groove Swoop Definition

A Swoop in a Non-Oval V-Groove is where the corners Curve Inward toward the opening on either the Outside or Inside Cut of the V-Groove.

The Rotation on Non-Oval V-Grooves controls for Swoops or Flares on Non-Oval V-Grooves.

If the Inside Non-Oval V-Groove cuts with a Swoop, Increase the Inside Rotation.

 Inside V-Groove Flare Definition

A Flare in a Non-Oval V-Groove is where the corners Curve Away from the opening on either the Outside or Inside Cut of the V-Groove.

The Rotation on Non-Oval V-Grooves controls for Swoops or Flares on Non-Oval V-Grooves.

If the Inside Non-Oval V-Groove cuts with a Flare, Decrease the Inside Rotation.

Outside Oval Rotation (V-Groove)  

Problem:

  • The Outside cut of the Oval V-Groove cuts with Feathers or Bumps.

 Outside V-Groove Feather Definition

A Feather in an Oval V-Groove is a Fringe of material left behind where the cut started and ended on either the Outside or Inside Cut of the V-Groove.

The Oval Rotation for V-Grooves controls for Bumps or Feathers on an Oval V-Groove.

If the Outside Oval V-Groove cuts with a Feather, Increase the Outside Oval Rotation.

 Outside V-Groove Bump Definition

A Bump in an Oval V-Groove is a Lump of material left behind where the cut started and ended on either the Outside or Inside Cut of the V-Groove.

The Oval Rotation for V-Grooves controls for Bumps or Feathers on an Oval V-Groove.

If the Outside Oval V-Groove cuts with a Bump, Decrease the Outside Oval Rotation.

A Bump in an Oval V-Groove is a Lump of material left behind where the cut started and ended on either the Outside or Inside Cut of the V-Groove.

If the Inside Oval V-Groove cuts with a Bump, Increase the Inside Oval Rotation.

Horizontal Adjustment (Tool Specific) 

Problem:

  • The Deboss, Pen or Vinyl Tool Object is applied in the Wrong Place Horizontally.

 Horizontal Adjustment Definition

The Horizontal Adjustment defines the global Horizontal placement of objects applied with the Non-Blade Tool Cartridges.

If the Tool line is applied too far Left, Increase the Horizontal Adjustment.

If the Tool line is applied too far Right, Decrease the Horizontal Adjustment.

Vertical Adjustment (Tool Specific) 

Problem:

  • The Deboss, Pen or Vinyl Tool Object is applied in the Wrong Place Vertically.

The Vertical Adjustment defines the global Vertical placement of objects applied with the Non-Blade Tool Cartridges.

If the Tool line is applied too far Up, Decrease the Vertical Adjustment.

If the Tool line is applied too far Down, Increase the Vertical Adjustment.

Depth Setting (Tool Specific)

The Depth Setting controls the Blade Depth for the Non-Blade Tools in the Configurations.

If the Non-Blade Tool is Too Deep, Decrease the Depth Setting.

If the Non-Blade Tool is Too Shallow, Increase the Depth Setting.

Corner Pause (ms) (Tool Specific)

 Corner Pause Definition

The Corner Pause setting in Configurations is the amount of time, in milliseconds, to pause the application of the Non-Blade Tools between segments.

The Non-Blade Tool is Tearing in the Corners of the segments, Increase the Corner Pause

The Non-Blade Tool is Pausing Too Long in the Corners of the segments, Decrease the Corner Pause

Overshoot (Tool Specific) 

Problem:

  • The Deboss, Pen or Vinyl Tool line is applied Too Long or Too Short.

Resolution:

 Overshoot Definition

The Overshoot controls how far past the end of the Line/Arc Segment to apply the Non-Blade Tool (Deboss, Pen or Vinyl).

This is similar to the Overcut used with the Blade cartridges.

If the Overshoot is applied Too Long, Decrease the Overshoot.

If the Overshoot is applied Too Short, Increase the Overshoot.

Plunge (Tool Specific) 

Problem:

Resolution:

  • The Non-Blade Tool leaves a Dot where it plunges, select Unplunge.

  • The Non-Blade Tool takes Too Long to apply, select Plunge.

  • See Plunge for additional information for the Deboss, Pen or Vinyl Tool.

 Plunge Definition

The Plunge function controls whether to Plunge/Unplunge between the Line/Arc Segments of an object when applying a Non-Blade Tool.

The Non-Blade Tool leaves a Dot where it plunges, select Unplunge.

The Non-Blade Tool takes Too Long to apply, select Plunge.

Install Pen

 Pen Definition

The Install Pen Utility calibrates the Pen Tool for use on the CMC.

The Pen Cartridge draws onto the surface of the matboard to create a design. In addition to templates, you can also Pen CutArts, LetterMats and TTFs.
