Join Segments

Click the Edit radio button.

Hold down the CTRL key and click on each segment making up the upper left-hand inner section.

Click the Join button.

The segments are joined together to create a single object.

Do the same for the other three corners to create the bottom layer.

Hold down the CTRL key and click on each segment making up the upper left-hand outer section. Don't forget the small lines that make up the corners.

Click the Join button.

The segments are joined together to create a single object.

Do the same for the other three corners to create the top layer.

Trace the Design

Click on the Set Bevels tab.

Click on the top layer which is displayed topmost of the layer list. It will display that the top layer is already traced.

Click on the second layer down from the top.

It will display that the second layer is already traced.

Click on the third layer down from the top.

We need to trace the outer openings we created for this layer. Hold down the CTRL key and click on each outer opening in the corners.

Click the 45° Bevel button. 

The third layer is now traced. 

Click on the fourth layer down from the top.

We need to trace the inner openings we created for this layer. Hold down the CTRL key and click on each inner opening in the corners.

Click the 45° Bevel button. 

The fourth layer is now traced. 

Convert to Splines/Tangify

Click Edit > Convert Arcs to Splines. The splines can be tangified with less distortion, which will give a smoother cutting path for the design.

Click on Edit > Tangify all Circuits. This makes each arc tangent to each other for smoother cutting.

Save, Cut

Save the CutArt. You will get a message stating that this design contains objects that do not have an assigned bevel type. This refers to the leftover arcs and lines that we didn't trace. Click Yes that you wish to continue.

Load the CutArt.

Cut the CutArt.

Optionally, you can also bring the CutArt straight to the Cut Preview from Trace.

The stained glass design is completed.
