Add a V-Groove

titleClosed V-Groove Definition

The Normal Bevel Closed V-Groove involves two symmetrical cuts: one in the matboard and a corresponding cut in the fallout, both forming a mirrored arrangement. The matboard is sliced halfway through the thickness and the core is visible from the front.

First Cut: Cuts the Interior cut into the Fallout Clockwise.

Second Cut: Cuts the Exterior cut into the Matboard Counter-Clockwise.

Select V-Groove from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration.

The Normal Bevel Open V-Groove involves two symmetrical cuts: one in the matboard and a corresponding cut in the fallout, both forming a mirrored arrangement a specified distance apart. Both the matboard core and the lower layer matboard are visible from the front.

First Cut: Cuts the Interior cut into the Fallout Clockwise: Normal Bevel Drop*.

Second Cut: Cuts the Exterior cut into the Matboard Counter-Clockwise: Normal Bevel Opening.

*The Drop is one of the categories within certain opening styles, like the initial section cut of an Open V-Groove. However, it cannot be chosen as a standalone bevel type within Designer.

Select Normal Drop or Normal Drop-Front of Mat from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit the interior cut configuration.

Select Normal Bevel or Normal Bevel-Front of Mat from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit the exterior cut configuration.

Adding a V-Groove With an Object Selected

  • Click on the object you want the V-Groove placed around.

  • Click the Add V-Groove button on the Openings tab.

  • The V-Groove Offset window will open.

  • Enter the Offset distance from the selected opening to place the V-Groove.

  • Click OK.

Tip
  • Default Settings: See Admin > Editor for the default settings for the default Deboss/Pen/V-Groove/Crease Distance under V-Groove Distance.

  • The V-Groove is placed around the opening at the Offset Distance specified.
