When the Cutting Previewscreen indicates that the current layer is to be cut from the frontFront of the mat, this also determines how to place the matboard onto the CMC.
Have two layers Two Layersof adequate size of disposable matboard under mat the Mat to be cutCut; a layer Layer can be temporarily removed when cutting thicker matboard.
Place the matboard into the left corner of the CMC, making sure that the matboard nestles tightly into the horizontal Horizontal and vertical clampsVertical Clamps.

Cutting From the Front will cut with the face of the mat toward the operator, and can be selected on the Cutting Preview or by cutting a Cut-From-Front element such as a Deboss or V-Groove.
