Bevel and Cartridge Types

  • Select the desired object you wish to Trace.

  • Select the desired Bevel Type/Cartridge Type from the Bevel and Cartridge Types dropdown control.

  • Click the Set button next to it to Trace it.

  • The Bevel and Cartridge Types section display the different choices available for tracing the design.

 Bevel Type Definition

The Bevel Type is the Angle that the blade cuts on the Matboard/Fallout surface when it is not cut at a 90° Right Angle.

 Cartridge Definition

A Cartridge is the physical component that holds a Blade, Deboss Stylus, Pen or other application tool.

 Normal Bevel Definition

The Standard, Normal or Forward Bevel is when the Angle of the blade cuts the Matboard surface so it Slants Away from the surface of the Matboard, and the Matboard Core is Seen from the front.

The Bevel Type is the Angle that the blade cuts on the Matboard/Fallout surface when it is not cut at a 90° Right Angle.

 Trace Definition

Tracing the Design provides the Bevel Type and other necessary information to the Vector design in order to either Cut or apply a Non-Blade Tool on the CMC.

The Set Bevels Tab in Trace contains the tools needed to Trace the design.

Bevel and Cartridge Type Categories

  • The Bevel and Cartridge Types are divided into several different categories.

 Bevel Type Definition

The Bevel Type is the Angle that the blade cuts on the Matboard/Fallout surface when it is not cut at a 90° Right Angle.

 Cartridge Definition

A Cartridge is the physical component that holds a Blade, Deboss Stylus, Pen or other application tool.

  • From within the Bevel and Cartridge Type Categories, select the specific Bevel/Cartridge Type from the dropdown control.

 Bevel Type Definition

The Bevel Type is the Angle that the blade cuts on the Matboard/Fallout surface when it is not cut at a 90° Right Angle.

 Cartridge Definition

A Cartridge is the physical component that holds a Blade, Deboss Stylus, Pen or other application tool.

Bevel Type Selection

Bevels and Outsides

  • Select the desired Bevel Type or Outside Bevel Type from the dropdown control.

 Bevel Type Definition

The Bevel Type is the Angle that the blade cuts on the Matboard/Fallout surface when it is not cut at a 90° Right Angle.

Grooves

  • Select the desired V-Groove type from the dropdown control. 

 InGroove and OutGroove

Note that the OutGroove (outside cut of the V-Groove) and InGroove (inside cut of the V-Groove) bevels cannot be saved with the design, so the design must be taken directly to the Cutting Preview after tracing it.

 Bevel Type Definition

The Bevel Type is the Angle that the blade cuts on the Matboard/Fallout surface when it is not cut at a 90° Right Angle.

 V-Groove Definition

A Normal Bevel Closed V-Groove consists of two cuts - one in the Matboard and one in the Fallout, mirroring each other. They are cut Halfway through the matboard, revealing the Matboard Core.

The Normal Bevel is when the Angle of the blade cuts the Matboard/Fallout surface so it Slants Away from the surface of the Matboard/Fallout, and the Matboard Core is Seen from the front.

Drops

  • Select the desired Drop type from the dropdown control. 

 Drop Definition

The Normal Drop is when the Angle of the blade cuts on the Fallout surface so it slants Away from the surface of the Fallout, and the Matboard Core is Seen from the front.

The Reverse Drop is when the Angle of the blade cuts the Fallout surface so it slants Under the surface of the Fallout, and the Matboard Core is Not Seen from the front.

Specialty

  • Select the desired Specialty cartridge from the dropdown control. 

    • Pen: Uses the Pen tool.

    • Deboss: Uses the Deboss tool.

    • Vinyl: Uses the Vinyl tool to cut designs out of vinyl.

    • Crease: Uses the Crease tool to crease the surface for folding, such as when cutting boxes.

 Cartridge Definition

A Cartridge is the physical component that holds a Blade, Deboss Stylus, Pen or other application tool.

 Pen Definition

The Pen Cartridge is used to draw onto the surface of the matboard on the CMC to create a design.

In addition, you can also Pen Designs, CutArts, LetterMats and TTFs.

 Deboss Definition

The Deboss cartridge stylus presses onto the surface of the matboard to create a subtle design.

There are three Deboss stylus sizes: Wide, Medium, Thin.

In addition to Templates, you can also Deboss CutArts, LetterMats and TTFs.

 Vinyl Definition

The Vinyl Cartridge uses a special blade to cut the Vinyl which has been temporarily adhered to matboard to create the design.

 Crease Definition

The Crease Cartridge is used to apply Crease marks that are used to assist in folding the thicker finished Box.
