Cartridges Involved

This Configuration element involves the following Cartridges.

Note: Not all cartridges are available for all CMC models.

Bevel Type Examples

The examples below display the different bevel types that can be cut with the bladed cartridges.

 Bevel Type Definition

Bevel Types determine whether the bevel in the matboard is displayed or not displayed, whether it is cut as an opening, outside, drop, or applied in a different format such as a V-Groove.

Normal Bevel

  • Normal Bevel opening is cut from the back* of the mat, and displays an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

 Normal Bevel Definition

Normal Bevel opening displays an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

Reverse Bevel

  • Reverse Bevel opening is cut from the back* of the mat, and does not display an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

 Reverse Bevel Definition

Reverse Bevel opening displays no exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

Normal Drop

  • Normal Drop is the fallout that is cut from the back* of the mat, which displays an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

  • When cutting an Open V-Groove, the inside cut uses the Normal Drop bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Normal Bevel configuration.

 Normal Drop Definition

Normal Drop Bevel is a drop that displays an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard drop.

Reverse Drop

  • Reverse Drop is the fallout that is cut from the back* of the mat, which does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

  • When cutting a Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove, the inside cut uses the Reverse Drop bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Reverse Bevel configuration.

Reverse Drop Bevel is a drop that displays no exposed bevel on the face of the matboard drop.

Outside

  • An Outside is the outside cut of the mat that is cut from the back* of the mat, and does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

 Outside Bevel Definition

The Outside Bevel cut of the mat does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard outside.

Normal Bevel - Front of Mat

  • Normal Bevel - Front of Mat opening is cut from the front* of the mat, and displays an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

Normal Bevel opening displays an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

  • When cutting an Open V-Groove from the front, the inside cut uses the Normal Drop - Front of Mat bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Normal Bevel - Front of mat configuration.

  • When cutting a Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove from the Front, the inside cut uses the Reverse Drop - Front of Mat bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Reverse Bevel - Front of Mat configuration.

Outside - Front of Mat

  • An Outside - Front of Mat is the outside cut of the mat that is cut from the front* of the mat, which does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

 Outside Bevel Definition

The Outside Bevel cut of the mat does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard outside.

V-Groove

  • V-Groove is a thin channel cut into the face of the matboard to reveal the matboard core color. It is cut from the front of the mat, and any other openings on that layer will also be cut from the front.

 V-Groove Definition

Closed V-Groove is a decorative channel that is cut about halfway through the thickness of the matboard, exposing the matboard core.

Closed V-Grooves are cut from the front of the mat.

Normal Bevel Open V-Groove

 Open V-Groove Definition

An Open V-Groove is a decorative channel that is cut through the matboard, exposing a channel that reveals the lower layer matboard. The bevels of the Open V-Groove are displayed.

Open V-Grooves can be cut from the front or the back of the mat.

First Cut of the Normal Bevel Open V-Groove

  • This is the 45° Normal Bevel Drop Configuration.

  • The Open V-Groove can be cut from the front or the back of the mat.


Second Cut of the Normal Bevel Open V-Groove

  • This is the 45° Normal Bevel Opening Configuration.

  • The Open V-Groove can be cut from the front or the back of the mat.

Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove

 Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove Definition

An Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove is a decorative channel that is cut through the matboard, exposing a channel that reveals the lower layer matboard. The bevels of the Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove are not displayed.

Open V-Grooves can be cut from the front or the back of the mat.

First Cut of the Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove

  • This is the 45° Reverse Bevel Drop Configuration.

  • The Open V-Groove can be cut from the front or the back of the mat.


Second Cut of the Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove

  • This is the 45° Reverse Bevel Opening Configuration.

  • The Open V-Groove can be cut from the front or the back of the mat.

 Cartridge Definition

A Cartridge is a component that contains a blade, stylus, pen or other apparatus that can be inserted into the head to perform a function, such as cutting, Debossing, Pen, etc.
