Install Pen: Set the Pen Tool Cartridge Depth Setting on the CMC Z1

  • Have the Pen Cartridge and Pen Holder available.

  • On the FrameShop main screen, click on Configurations

  • Click on the Pen Configuration tab.

  • Select the desired pen from the drop down control.

  • Click the Install Pen button.

  • Align the Head if prompted.

  • Insert a pen into the pen holder by placing the tip in first.

  • Slide the pen locking bolt against the back of the pen and tighten the pen locknut clockwise to lock it into place.

  • Insert the pen cartridge without the pen holder into the Footblock until it clicks into place; it can only be inserted one way.

  • Load a mat at least 9 inches (22cm) high and 5 inches (13cm) wide into the machine.  Click OK.

  • The Footblock will drop down.  Set the blade depth dial to zero.

  • Lower the pen holder tip first into the pen cartridge until the tip of the pen just touches the mat.

  • Tighten the pen cartridge lock nut clockwise to lock it.

  • Click OK on the screen.

  • The head will raise and the screen will prompt that the machine will now draw. Click OK.

  • As the machine runs, the spring in the pen cartridge will be partially compressed.

  • When you are happy with the line quality, click OK.

  • The Depth Setting value on the configuration screen should be 10. This is important because changing the blade depth dial setting will change the pen work’s vertical position.

  • Click on Admin on the main screen to return to Define the Pen in Defaults.

  • Next to the description of the current pen, enter the number of lines visible on the pen holder where it lines up to the pen cartridge and then click OK.

  • Use these lines as reference when setting the pen holder into the cartridge the next time you use this pen.

  • Repeat these steps to define other pens if desired.

  • No labels
