Kwik Kat Introduction |

The Kwik Kat software is an advanced compact circle calibration utility. Kwik Kat is broken down to the very basic function of cutting circles clockwise and counter-clockwise. Once the clockwise circles are cutting correctly, for example, then those values are applied to all bevel types that cut clockwise. |
Start Kwik Kat | |

Close the MatDesigner software. Click Start > All Programs > Wizard > Tools > Kwik Kat. The Kwik Kat software opens. |
Select Cutting Direction and Bevel Cartridge | |
---|---|
Determine the cutting direction of the bevel type in question, and select either clockwise or counter-clockwise. | |
Select the desired bevel cartridge from the dropdown control. |
Select Circle Size | |

The locked column allows the user to exclude specific circle sizes when adjusting. This makes calibrating circles faster by concentrating only on the sizes that need adjustment. | |
Uncheck the locked checkbox to cut and adjust this particular circle size. Check the locked checkbox to not cut or adjust this particular circle size. |
Cut/Power/Reset | |

The following commands are the same as in the MatDesigner software. Refer to the MatDesigner user guide for additional information. Click Cut to cut the mat. Kwik Kat is designed to cut all of the circles on a 14x11” mat. The 20” circle cuts an ellipse that has arcs that are 10” radius; i.e., 20” circle. | |
Click power to align the head and power the motors. | |
Click reset to reset the motors. |
Determine if it is a Bump or a Feather | |

After the desired circles have been cut, check the quality of the cuts. If the circle(s) needs to be adjusted, determine whether the issue is a bump or a feather. A bump is the result of the blade returning to the outside of the start point. A feather is a narrow piece of mat left as a result of the blade returning to the inside of the start point. |
To Adjust Globally | |

To make the same adjustment globally to all unlocked circles, use the less feather and less bump increment adjustment buttons. The small increment adjustment button is labeled 1 for Wizard CMCs, and 5 for Eclipse CMCs. | |
Clicking the small increment adjustment button will adjust the numerical values globally by -1/+1 for Wizard CMCs and -5/+5 for Eclipse CMCs. | |
The large increment adjustment button is labeled 10 for Wizard CMCs and 50 for Eclipse CMCs. Clicking the large increment adjustment button will adjust the numerical values globally by -10/+10 for Wizard CMCs and -50/+50 for Eclipse CMCs. After making the adjustment, recut the circles to check the calibration progress. |
To Adjust Individually |

To make adjustments to an individual circle size, click and drag the circle slidebar to the desired number. After making the adjustment, recut the circles to check the calibration progress. |
Save |

Every time the user clicks cut and cuts the circles, it saves the changes to the computer. If the last set of circles cut are satisfactory, then nothing more is required and the user can shut the program down by clicking the X in the upper right corner. |
