Placing Matboard When Cutting from the Back

When the Cut Preview screen indicates that the current layer is to be cut from the Back of the mat, this also determines how to place the matboard onto the CMC.

  • Have Two Layers of adequate size of disposable matboard under the Mat to be Cut; a Layer can be temporarily removed when cutting thicker matboard.

  • Place the matboard into the left corner of the CMC, making sure that the matboard nestles tightly into the Horizontal and Vertical Clamps.

 Backing Board Definition

The Backing Boards are Two Sheets of matboard placed on the CMC behind the sheet of matboard being cut.

This protects the CMC’s metal surface and helps stabilize the mat being cut.

One sheet can be removed when cutting thicker material if needed.

  • When cutting from the Back, make sure the front of the matboard is facing the CMC.
