Cartridges Involved

This Configuration element involves the following Cartridges.

Note: Not all cartridges are available for all CMC models.

Bevel Type Examples

The examples below display the different bevel types that can be cut with the bladed cartridges.

 Bevel Type Definition

The Bevel Type is the Angle that the blade cuts on the Matboard/Fallout surface when it is not cut at a 90° right angle.

Normal Bevel Opening

  • Normal Bevel Opening is cut from the back* of the mat, and displays an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

 Normal Bevel Definition

The Normal Bevel* is when the Angle of the blade cuts the Matboard/Fallout surface so it slants away from the surface of the Matboard/Fallout, and the matboard core is seen from the front.

Reverse Bevel Opening

  • Reverse Bevel Opening is cut from the back* of the mat, and does not display an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

 Reverse Bevel Definition

The Reverse Bevel* is when the Angle of the blade cuts the Matboard/Fallout surface so it slants under the surface of the Matboard/Fallout, and the matboard core is not seen from the front.

Normal Bevel Drop

  • Normal Bevel Drop is the fallout that is cut from the back* of the mat, which displays an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

  • When cutting an Open V-Groove, the inside cut uses the Normal Bevel Drop bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Normal Bevel Opening configuration.

  • An Outside Bevel is the outside cut of the mat that is cut from the back* of the mat, and does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

  • When cutting a Normal Bevel Open V-Groove from the front, the inside cut uses the Normal Bevel Drop - Front of Mat bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Normal Bevel Opening - Front of mat configuration.

Outside Bevel - Front of Mat

  • An Outside Bevel - Front of Mat is the outside cut of the mat that is cut from the front* of the mat, which does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

 Outside Bevel Definition

The Outside Bevel-Front of Mat* is when the Angle of the blade cuts the Fallout surface so it slants under the surface of the Fallout, and the matboard core is not seen from the front.

Closed V-Groove

  • Closed V-Groove is a thin channel cut into the face of the matboard to reveal the matboard core color. It is cut from the front of the mat, and any other openings on that layer will also be cut from the front.

First Cut of the Closed V-Groove

  • Cuts the Interior V-Groove Line.

  • Cuts into fallout, not the matboard.

  • Cuts clockwise.

Second Cut of the Closed V-Groove

  • Cuts the Exterior V-Groove Line.

  • Cuts into matboard, not the fallout.

  • Cuts counter-clockwise.

 V-Groove Definition

A Normal Bevel Closed V-Groove consists of two cuts - one in the Matboard and one in the Fallout, mirroring each other. They are cut halfway through the matboard, revealing the matboard core.

Open V-Groove

Normal Bevel Open V-Groove

  • A Normal Bevel Open V-Groove consists of two cuts - one in the Matboard and one in the Fallout, mirroring each other, spaced a specified distance away. They are cut through the matboard, revealing the lower layer matboard in the exposed segment.

 Open V-Groove Definition

A Normal Bevel Open V-Groove consists of two cuts - one in the Matboard and one in the Fallout, mirroring each other, spaced a specified distance away. They are cut through the matboard, revealing the lower layer matboard in the exposed segment.

  • A Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove consists of two cuts - one in the Matboard and one in the Fallout, mirroring each other, spaced a specified distance away. They are cut through the matboard, revealing the lower layer matboard in the exposed segment.
