The Bevel Cutting Direction is determined by the Bevel Type selected and whether it is cut from the Front or the Back of the mat.
This is important in determining whether something is an Overcut or a Backup on the Cut Preview and in the Configurations.

Each Bevel Type, including whether cut from the Front or Back, has a designated configuration in the Current Bevel Type dropdown menu.
Be sure to select the appropriate Front/Back Bevel Type before adjusting the configurations.
