New Openings Screen: Single

  • Use the New Openings Screen to quickly create a template design or to start a new project.

  • There are three tabs to select from: SingleMulti, and Array

  • The Single tab of the New Openings Screen is for creating and cutting one single opening.

  • Click New Mat Design on the main screen.

  • The New Openings Screen will open.

  • Default Settings: See Admin > Editor for the default settings on whether or not to display the New Openings Screen.

 Template Definition

Templates are specialized parametric shape generators created by Wizard.

Many of the templates have additional Properties that can be edited which can change the shape, curves and corners of the design as well as a wide assortment of Parameters.

The Template Library displays the different templates that are available for use.

  • Stay on the Single tab. 

  • The Single tab of the New Openings Screen is for creating and cutting one single opening.

Opening Size

  • Enter the opening Width.

  • Enter the opening Height.

  • If entering Opening size first, it automatically calculates the Outside size when tabbing out of the Borders field.  

  • If entering Outside dimension first, it automatically calculates the Opening size when tabbing out of the Borders field.

  • Default Settings: See Admin > Defaults to set the default for displaying the Opening Size First or the Outside Size First on the New Openings Screen.

 Sizes Button Definition

The Sizes Button displays the Recent and Standard sizes. 

Recent lists the last ten sizes entered.

Standard lists Standard sizes associated with the current unit of measurement.

 Swap Button Definition

The Swap Button switches the values between the Width and Height fields.

Borders

  • Enter the Borders sizes for the Top, Sides and Bottom Borders.

  • Default Settings:

  • See Admin > Defaults to set the default for the Border Order on the New Openings Screen.

  • See Admin > Editor to set the default for the Border Sizes on the New Openings Screen.

 Border Definition

The Border is the area of precisely definable width between the outside edge of a Mat and the edge of the Opening(s) in Designer, Nesting, and Visualization.

Separate Left and Right Border Sizes

  • To enter separate left and right borders, click on the Sides field name to expand it to the Left and Right border fields. 

 Border Definition

The Border is the area of precisely definable width between the outside edge of a Mat and the edge of the Opening(s) in Designer, Nesting, and Visualization.

  • The Left and Right border fields can now be edited separately. 

  • To return it to the combined Sides field, click on the Left field name to condense it back to the Sides field.

Outside Size

  • If entering Opening size first, it automatically calculates the Outside size when tabbing out of the Borders field.  

  • If entering Outside dimension first, it automatically calculates the Opening size when tabbing out of the Borders field.

  • Enter the outside Width

  • Enter the outside Height.

  • Default Settings: See Admin > Defaults to set the default for displaying the Opening Size First or the Outside Size First on the New Openings Screen.

 Outside Bevel Definition

The Outside Bevel is created by cutting into the fallout surface with the blade angled at 45°/52°, thereby slanting the bevel under the fallout surface. The matboard core is not visible from the front.

The Bevel Type refers to the angle at which the blade cuts the surface of the matboard when it deviates from the 90° right angle cut.

Select Outside or Outside-Front of Mat from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration.

  • The new Template is displayed. 

Layers

  • Enter the number of Layers.

  • Enter the Reveal value for each layer. 

  • Select the Reverse Bevel checkbox to make the selected layer Reverse Bevel.

  • Select the RB button to make all of the layers Reverse Bevel.

  • Default Settings:

  • See Admin > Editor for the default settings for the number of layers for templates placed on the Design Editor.

  • See Admin > Defaults for setting the default layer reveal values for templates placed on the Design Editor.

 Reverse Bevel Definition

The Reverse Bevel Opening is created by cutting into the matboard surface with the blade angled at 45°/52°, thereby slanting the bevel under the matboard surface. The matboard core is not visible from the front.

Select Reverse Bevel or Reverse Bevel-Front of Mat from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration.

Blade Cartridge Selection

  • Click on the Blade Cartridge Icon. 

  • Select the desired Blade Cartridge for this layer.  

  • Not all cartridges are available in all scenarios

  • For instance, you cannot directly select the Deboss Cartridge for a template shape from the New Openings Screen.

 Cartridge Definition

A Cartridge is the physical component that holds the Blade, Deboss Stylus, Pen or other application tool.

Cut or Bring to the Editor

  • Now you can bring the design into the Editor by clicking OK to further edit, go straight to the Cut Preview, or Reset and start a new design.

  • Click OK to bring the design into the Design Editor for further editing. 

  • Click Cut to go straight to the Cutting Preview.

  • Click Reset to clear the existing design and create a new one.
