How to Make an Alternating Corners Design: Waves Using the #112: Ornamental or the #106: Mixed

  • Sometimes you might not want all of the corners to meet up with each other and would prefer an Alternating Corner approach.

  • Traditionally, a design like this would require a specialized Template or editing it in Trace.

  • Now with the introduction of the #112: Ornamental template and the existing #106: Mixed template, you can now make this with a few simple clicks.

  • Click New Mat Design on the FrameShop Main Page.

  • Click Cancel on the New Openings Screen.

  • On the Openings Tab, bring the template #112: Ornamental or the #106: Mixed onto the Editor.

  • NOTE: Selecting different Templates and adjusting their Parameters will give you an unlimited range of creative options.

  • Click on the Properties Tab.

  • Enter the desired size for the Ornamental opening and any other adjustments you wish to make.

  • Under Number of Layers, set the desired number of layers.

  • For this example, we used 5 Layers.

  • We’re going to select the desired Template for each layer.

    • Select #403 Crescent for the top layer.

    • Select #401 Oriental (Kobe) for the next layer.

    • Select #404 India Notch for the next layer.

    • Select #403 Crescent for the next layer.

    • Select #407 Grecian Notch for the last layer.

  • From here, you can click on Parameters and adjust them as desired.

    • For this example, we changed the Parameters for the top layer so that the corners touch against the next layer.

      • Radius: 1.375

      • Step Width: .4375

  • The Alternating Corners Waves design is done.

NOTES:

  • You can repeat this process to use any templates together.

  • Try using different Templates.

  • You can also adjust the Template’s Parameters which will give you endless creative options for your creative abilities.

  • Remember: Have fun!

    • Feel free to mix up the Templates selected and the number of Layers.
