New Openings Screen: Single

To access the New Openings Screen where you can quickly add template opening(s) to your design, Click New Mat Design on the main screen.
The New Openings Screen will open.

If the New Openings Screen does not open and the FrameShop Editor is displayed instead, the New Openings Screen is probably turned off in the Administrative screen.

Template Definition

Templates are specialized parametric shape generators created by Wizard.

Many of the templates have additional Properties that can be edited which can change the shape, curves and corners of the design as well as a wide assortment of Parameters.

The Template Library displays the different templates that are available for use.

There are three tabs to select from: Single, Multi, and Array.
Stay on the Single tab.
The Single tab of the New Openings Screen is for creating and cutting one single opening.

Input the opening dimensions, borders and outside.
Set the number of layers.
Click OK to add the opening to the Editor.

Opening Size and Details

Opening Size

Enter the opening dimensions.

Enter the opening Width.
Enter the opening Height.

If entering Opening size first, it automatically calculates the Outside size when tabbing out of the Borders field.
If entering Outside dimension first, it automatically calculates the Opening size when tabbing out of the Borders field.

Sizes Button Definition

The Sizes Button displays the Recent and Standard sizes.

Recent lists the last ten sizes entered.

Standard lists Standard sizes associated with the current unit of measurement.

Swap Button Definition

The Swap Button switches the values between the Width and Height fields.

Defaults: Set the Default to Edit the Opening or Outside Size First
Default Setting to Edit the Opening or Outside Size First Set the default for displaying the Opening Size First or the Outside Size First in the Admin > Defaults section.

Borders
Enter the Borders sizes for the Top, Sides and Bottom Borders. Border Definition The Border is the area of precisely definable width between the outside edge of a Mat and the edge of the Opening(s) in Designer, Nesting, and Visualization. See: Border Properties See: Border Default Settings

Defaults: Set the Border Order Defaults
Default Settings for the Border Order Set the default for the Border Order in the Admin > Defaults section.

Defaults: Set the Border Size Defaults
Default Settings for the Border Size Default Set the default for the Border sizes in the Admin > Editor section.

Separate Left and Right Border Sizes
To enter separate left and right borders, click on the Sides field name to expand it to the Left and Right border fields. Border Definition The Border is the area of precisely definable width between the outside edge of a Mat and the edge of the Opening(s) in Designer, Nesting, and Visualization. The Left and Right border fields can now be edited separately. To return it to the combined Sides field, click on the Left field name to condense it back to the Sides field.

Outside Size

Enter the outside Width.
Enter the outside Height.

If entering Opening size first, it automatically calculates the Outside size when tabbing out of the Borders field.
If entering Outside dimension first, it automatically calculates the Opening size when tabbing out of the Borders field.

The Template Library opens. Scroll through the list to see the templates available. Click on the desired Template Thumbnail to select it. The new Template is displayed.

Layers

Enter the number of Layers.
Enter the Reveal value for each layer.
Select the Reverse Bevel checkbox to make the selected layer Reverse Bevel.
Select the RB? button to make all of the layers reverse bevel.

Reverse Bevel Definition

The Reverse Bevel Opening is created by cutting into the matboard surface with the blade angled at 45°/52°, thereby slanting the bevel under the matboard surface. The matboard core is not visible from the front.

The Bevel Type refers to the angle at which the blade cuts the surface of the matboard when it deviates from the 90° right angle cut.

Select Reverse Bevel or Reverse Bevel-Front of Mat from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control to edit this configuration.

Defaults: Set the Default Number of Layers
Default Setting for the Default Number of Layers Set the default for the number of layers in the Admin > Editor section.

Defaults: Set the Default Reveal Value
Default Setting for the Default Reveal Value Set the default Reveal Values in the Admin > Defaults section.

Cartridge Selection

Click on the Cartridge Icon.
Select the desired cartridge for this layer.

Not all cartridges are available in all scenarios.

For instance, you cannot select the Deboss Cartridge for a template from the New Openings Screen.
Take the design into the Editor, create a Deboss opening, then select a Template shape for it on the Properties Tab.

Cartridge Definition

A Cartridge is the physical component that holds the Blade, Deboss Stylus, Pen or other application tool.

Cut or Bring to the Editor
Cut Button Click Cut to bring the design to the Cutting Preview to Cut.
Bring to Editor Click OK to bring the design into the Design Editor for further editing.
Reset Button Click Reset to clear the existing design and create a new one.
