Cut the Outside On  

Use the Cut the Outside toggle to select Cutting or Not Cutting the Outside of the mat for the CMC Z1, Z (9000z), 9000, and 8000.

  • Click the Cut Outside toggle On to cut the outside of the mat.

  • The outside of the mat will now cut. 

Note: You can also select Options > Cut Outside.

Cut the Outside Off

  • Click the Cut Outside toggle Off to not cut the outside of the mat.

  • The outside of the mat will not be cut.

Defaults: Set the Default for Cutting the Outside 

 Default Settings for Cutting the Outside

The default setting for Cutting the Outside can be set in the Admin > Editor section for the CMC Z1, Z (9000z), 9000 and 8000.

Defaults: Set the Default for 90 Degree Outside Cut

 Default Settings for Cutting the Outside with the 90 Degree Cartridge

The default setting for 90 Outside Cuts can be set in the Admin > Cutting section for the CMC Z1, Z (9000z) and 9000.

Note that the CMC 8000 does support cutting with the 90 Degree Cartridge.

Auto Offset

  • Select Auto Offset checkbox to move the design up and over on the matboard to avoid the clamp area on the CMC Z1 and Z (9000z), similar to the Rail Dodge below.

  • Click on the design to select it.

  • Check the Auto Offset checkbox.  

  • Enter the distance to move the design in the X Origin field; the Y Origin field uses the same numerical value. 

  • It will move the lower left corner of the design to the new X/Y Position and it will display Dodge on the bottom of the screen.

  • This feature is also turned on by selecting Full from the Outside Cut Options dropdown control.

 Auto Offset Definition

The Auto Offset moves the design up and over on the Cut Preview to avoid the Clamp area.

This is for the CMC Z1 and Z (9000z) to overcome the Border Limitation of 1.25"/3.2 cm on the Cut Preview.

This is similar to the Rail Dodge used on the CMC 9000/8000.

Disable Auto Offset

  • Disabling the Auto Offset will cut the design normally without being offset into the mat on the CMC Z1 and Z (9000z).

  • Click on the design to select it.

  • Uncheck the Auto Offset checkbox.

  • The design will no longer be offset on the CMC Z1 and Z (9000z) and will cut the design normally unless values have been entered in the X Origin and Y Origin fields as described above.

  • This is useful when cutting the opening from a pre-cut sheet matboard and not cutting the outside.

 Auto Offset Definition

This is for the CMC Z1 and Z (9000z) to overcome the Border Limitation of 1.25"/3.2 cm on the Cut Preview.

Enable Rail Dodge

  • The Enable Rail Dodge will move the design up and over on the matboard to avoid the clamping area on the CMC 9000 and 8000.

  • Click on the design to select it.

  • Check the Enable Rail Dodge checkbox to use a Rail Dodge on CMC 9000 and 8000

  • A Rail Dodge is a small piece of matboard or other material used to position the pre-cut matboard up into the cutting area when using borders less than 1.5" and not cutting the outside.

  • Enter the distance to move the design in the X Origin field; the Y Origin field uses the same numerical value. 

  • It will move the lower left corner of the design to the new X/Y Position and it will display Dodge on the bottom of the screen.

Note: The outside cut is shown here merely for visual reference of where the pre-cut matboard will be positioned on the board. This feature can also be used to move the design to avoid flaws in the matboard.

 Rail Dodge Definition

The Rail Dodge function moves the design up and over on the matboard to avoid the Clamp area on the CMC 9000 and 8000 to overcome the Border Limitation of 1.5”/3.8cm on the Cut Preview.

This is similar to the Auto Offset used on the CMC Z1/Z (9000z).
