Blade Depth Button

  • Use the Blade Depth screen to select the Blade Depth for the current layer.

  • Click the Blade Depth Button to open the Blade Depth screen which allows the user to set the software Blade Depth for the current design.

NOTE: This is the software Blade Depth setting.

The Hardware Blade Depth will also have to be set to the same value.

Blade Depth Screen

  • Use the Blade Depth screen to select the Blade Depth for the current layer.

  • Each time the Blade Depth Knob on the CMC is changed, the Blade Depth setting in the software must be changed to match.

  • Using the correct Blade Depth in the software helps adjust the Backups and Overcuts and other Configuration adjustments to coincide with the Depth selected.

Apply New Depth to All Layers

  • Check the Apply New Depth to All Layers checkbox to apply the selected Blade Depth to all of the Layers of the current design on the Cutting Preview Screen.  

  • Uncheck the Apply New Depth to All Layers checkbox to select a different Blade Depth for each Layer. 

Opening Blade Depth Value

  • Select the desired Opening Blade Depth value* in the Opening field. 

  • If desired, enter notes in the Label field for future reference for this particular Blade Depth.

  • Entering a Label for a Blade Depth value will be displayed from the Blade Depth Quick Select dropdown control.

  • *This value should match the number on the physical Blade Depth dial.

V-Groove Blade Depth Value

  • Select the desired V-Groove Blade Depth value* in the V-Groove field. 

  • If desired, enter notes in the Label field for future reference for this particular Blade Depth.

  • Entering a Label for a Blade Depth value will be displayed from the Blade Depth Quick Select dropdown control.

*This value should match the number on the physical Blade Depth dial.

 V-Groove Definition

A Normal Bevel Closed V-Groove consists of two cuts - one in the Matboard and one in the Fallout, mirroring each other. They are cut Halfway through the matboard, revealing the Matboard Core.

The Normal Bevel is when the Angle of the blade cuts the Matboard/Fallout surface so it Slants Away from the surface of the Matboard/Fallout, and the Matboard Core is Seen from the front.

Set As Default

  • Click the Set As Default button to set the current Blade Depth value as the Default Blade Depth for the associated Opening or V-Groove field.

The default setting for the Blade Depth can be set in the Admin > Cutting section.

This also sets the values for the preset Blade Depth Quick Select Entries.

  • Optionally, use the Blade Depth Quick Select dropdown control to select one of the preset Blade Depths for the current design.

  • Click the Blade Depth Quick Select dropdown control which is displayed as the mat corner sample at the top of the screen on the Cut Preview.

  • Select the desired preset Blade Depth for the current Layer from the dropdown control.

  • The selected Blade Depth will be applied to the current Layer.

Cartridge and Blade Depth Prompt for CMC Z1

  • After selecting the desired Blade Depth for the current layer and Aligning the Head if necessary, Click Cut to cut the mat.

  • If the current layer uses a different Cartridge or Blade Depth than the last mat cut, the user will be prompted to change the Cartridge and/or the Blade Depth

  • Replace the current Cartridge with the one requested on the Cartridge and Blade Depth Prompt.

  • You can also change the Blade Depth Value on the screen by clicking on the -/+ (Minus (minus) or Plus (plus)) buttons to Decrease/Increase the Blade Depth Value.

  • The Z1 will automatically adjust the physical Blade Depth of the CMC to this number when you click Continue.

  • Click Continue to cut.

Cartridge and Blade Depth Prompt for CMC Z (9000z), 9000 and 8000

  • After selecting the desired Blade Depth for the current Layer and Aligning the Head if necessary, Click Cut to cut the mat.

  • If the current layer requires a different Cartridge or Blade Depth than the last mat cut, the user will be prompted to change the Cartridge and/or the Blade Depth.  

  • Replace the current Cartridge with the one requested on the Cartridge and Blade Depth Prompt.

  • Change the physical Blade Depth Dial on the Head to the requested depth.

  • Click OK to cut.
