Measuring the Vinyl Cartridge Blade Depth

These instructions will show how to measure the blade depth of the Vinyl Cartridge.

  • Locate a small or scrap piece of the same type of vinyl that you will be cutting, and place it on a scrap of matboard.

  • Hold the cartridge level to the piece of vinyl and grasp the base of the cartridge where it would be inserted into the Head.

  • With medium grip (as if holding a pencil), drag the Vinyl cartridge over the edge of the scrap of vinyl.

  • Check the cut that was made. You want it to cut through the Vinyl, but not through the backing sheet.

  • To adjust the Vinyl blade depth, turn the locking knob on the back of the Vinyl Cartridge (where the Plunge Rod is attached).

  • Turn the locking knob clockwise to increase the blade depth, and counter-clockwise to decrease the blade depth.

  • Test the blade depth on the piece of Vinyl again.

  • Continue making adjustments until the blade cuts through the Vinyl, but not through the backing sheet.

  • Once the blade depth for the cartridge is set, you can install the Cartridge into the Head.
