Cartridges Involved

This Configuration element involves the following Cartridges.

Note: Not all cartridges are available for all CMC models.

Bevel Type Examples

The examples below display the different bevel types that can be cut with the bladed cartridges.

 Bevel Type Definition

Bevel Types determine whether the bevel in the matboard is displayed or not displayed, whether it is cut as an opening, outside, drop, or applied in a different format such as a V-Groove.

Normal Bevel Opening

  • Normal Bevel Opening is cut from the back* of the mat, and displays an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

 Normal Bevel Definition

Normal Bevel Opening displays an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

Reverse Bevel Opening

  • Reverse Bevel Opening is cut from the back* of the mat, and does not display an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

 Reverse Bevel Definition

Reverse Bevel Opening displays no exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

Normal Bevel Drop

  • Normal Bevel Drop is the fallout that is cut from the back* of the mat, which displays an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

  • When cutting an Open V-Groove, the inside cut uses the Normal Bevel Drop bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Normal Bevel Opening configuration.

 Normal Drop Definition

Normal Bevel Drop  is a drop that displays an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard drop.

Reverse Bevel Drop

  • Reverse Bevel Drop is the fallout that is cut from the back* of the mat, which does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

  • When cutting a Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove, the inside cut uses the Reverse Bevel Drop bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Reverse Bevel Opening configuration.

Reverse Bevel Drop  is a drop that displays no exposed bevel on the face of the matboard drop.

Outside Bevel

  • An Outside Bevel is the outside cut of the mat that is cut from the back* of the mat, and does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

 Outside Bevel Definition

The Outside Bevel cut of the mat does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard outside.

  • Normal Bevel Opening - Front of Mat opening is cut from the front* of the mat, and displays an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

Normal Bevel Opening - Front of Mat displays an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

  • Reverse Bevel Opening - Front of Mat opening is cut from the front* of the mat, and does not display an exposed bevel in the face of the matboard.

  • Normal Bevel Drop - Front of Mat is the fallout that is cut from the front* of the mat, which displays an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

  • When cutting a Normal Bevel Open V-Groove from the front, the inside cut uses the Normal Bevel Drop - Front of Mat bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Normal Bevel Opening - Front of mat configuration.

Reverse Bevel Drop - Front of Mat

  • Reverse Bevel Drop - Front of Mat is the fallout that is cut from the front* of the mat, which does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

  • When cutting a Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove from the Front, the inside cut uses the Reverse Bevel Drop - Front of Mat bevel configuration and the outside cuts with a Reverse Bevel Opening - Front of Mat configuration.

Outside Bevel - Front of Mat

  • An Outside Bevel - Front of Mat is the outside cut of the mat that is cut from the front* of the mat, which does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard.

 Outside Bevel Definition

The Outside Bevel - Front of Mat cut of the mat does not display an exposed bevel on the face of the matboard outside.

Closed V-Groove

  • Closed V-Groove is a thin channel cut into the face of the matboard to reveal the matboard core color. It is cut from the front of the mat, and any other openings on that layer will also be cut from the front.

 V-Groove Definition

Closed V-Groove is a decorative channel that is cut about halfway through the thickness of the matboard, exposing the matboard core.

Closed V-Grooves are cut from the front of the mat.

First Cut of the Closed V-Groove

  • Cuts the Interior V-Groove Line.

  • Cuts into fallout, not the matboard.

  • Cuts clockwise.

Second Cut of the Closed V-Groove

  • Cuts the Exterior V-Groove Line.

  • Cuts into matboard, not the fallout.

  • Cuts counter-clockwise.

Open V-Groove

 Open V-Groove Definition

Normal Bevel Open V-Groove is a decorative channel that is cut through the matboard, exposing a channel that reveals the lower layer matboard.

The bevels of the Normal Bevel Open V-Groove are displayed.

Normal Bevel Open V-Grooves can be cut from the front or the back of the mat.

Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove

 Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove Definition

An Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove is a decorative channel that is cut through the matboard, exposing a channel that reveals the lower layer matboard.

The bevels of the Reverse Bevel Open V-Groove are not displayed.

Reverse Bevel Open V-Grooves can be cut from the front or the back of the mat.
